Development loan sounds like something a property developer would get from a bank.

Nobody came out of that game with any credit, but Simons was given the Seri role and failed at it, he’s clearly got ability and will benefit from playing regularly so it’s a good move for all.

Maybe that massive new sponsor is Nationwide. The manager is just learning off that twat from the Hull Daily Mail Cooper and dropping hints in his wording.

So he only gets one game yet Slater is allowed to be inconsistent and Traore just plays well when he wants?

I suspect Slater’s about to lose his place to Morton and Traore generally plays well when he’s not being wasted out wide.

Can't argue with what you're saying but don't understand why Simons wasn't given the same opportunity. From what I am told his attitude is first class.

Liverpool have a talented midfield player who they expect to make the first team, but he’s not deemed ready yet and won’t get enough game time at Liverpool, so they’ve allowed him out on loan at a lower level to gain experience with a view to coming back as a more viable first team option.

It’s just football, it’s for the benefit of the player and for the benefit of the parent club, I have no idea why anyone is getting worked up about it.

I really hope not. Slater is the heartbeat of this team. I thought he was great today (again).

He was, but he was poor in the last game and overall this season he hasn’t looked as good as last season. Someone’s going to make way for Morton and I expect it to be Slater, though obviously I’m only guessing.

He did absolutely nothing first half except give the ball away at the end and quickly made up for it. Slightly better second half.

Slaters bang average! The hype is mental. Can't fault his work ethic. Quality is lacking.

Get morton in and balance the team.

English striker Andre Gray, whose previous clubs include Luton Town, Brentford, Burnley and Watford, is being monitored by a number of Championship clubs after the 32-year-old left Greek side Aris Saloniki by mutual consent. (Football Insider)

Morton still needs a bit of conditioning and acclimatisation.

I'm sure he'll play a big part, but let's not write last seasons fans and players player of the year just yet eh?

He's payed about 887 senior minutes in his career. All of them with us.
Were the only club that has done to date, but we have given him a oportilunity to make a name for himself.

Then come back with some hair on his chest like we did with Smith for a season and a half at Grimsby.

I suspect Morton was signed with the expectation he can cover for Seri or Slater. And given he's one of 3 realistic options there then I don't think there's much doubt he'll get minutes.

But Slater isn't going anywhere either. He does a lot of ugly stuff and spade work you just don't acknowledge.

I'm not writing off anyone, I like Slater, but Morton's definitely been brought in to be in the starting XI once he's up to speed. During the AFCoN it will be in place of Seri, the rest of the time, I think it's more likely to be Slater.

As always, time will tell, but hopefully as well as addressing some of the square pegs in round holes malarky, the late signings will also give us some quality strength in depth.

If it transpires that naming either Slater or Morton in the team with the other on the bench, for example, neither strengthens nor weakens the starting XI then that's the ideal position surely.

Likewise if it continues that Delap, Connolly and Tufan keep scoring steadily but consistently then that's some great forward options. They can't all start every game but players missing games keeps them fresh but you can only do that with strength in depth.
