This. However, as I highlighted earlier, Liverpool have got rid of 5 midfielders, and signed 4 this summer. So where does this idea of it taking 3-4 windows to sort things out come from? At this point it feels like some sort of delay tactic, keeping success on the pitch at arms length, and at a level where a levy is in his comfort zone. I wish Ange all the best, but I literally cannot fathom how our transfer business after selling Kane has not been better than this.
No, given the one thing our fanbase has been crying out for is a project manager comparable to Poch or Jol Complaining about getting something we asked for? You can tell it's Deadline Day...
Yeah as I said it’s just likely media training nonsense. I’m pretty sure Nuno and Conte spoke of a project at least once too! Ange is enjoyable to listen to though outside of the generic stuff. Aussie ‘Arry vibes.
it’s not a complaint about finally having the infrastructure to get us playing the way we should be, or feeling like there’s some direction. it’s the way that we’re always made to feel like success is in the future. But it’s always in the future.
Only one person to really blame, mate. Striker aside the XI isn’t looking terrible don’t get me wrong and a lot of that is down to Ange already, but that striker situation really is horrendous. Relegation quality player replacing arguably the best in the world in the position, frightening drop in level which I think will cost us throughout the season.
Keita and Ox left at the end of their contracts, Henderson is 33 and Fabinho made a money move to Saudi. I share your frustration around the lack of outgoings and the stall in the window post-Kane to now but to equate the Liverpool midfield situation to ours is a false equivalence IMO
To be fair, 2 of those midfielders went to Saudi for well over market value. If they don't sell Henderson and Fabinho for over inflated prices They probably wouldn't have spent £100m plus on a new midfield.
I mean, we're three games into the season. Of course success is in the future. There's a word for leagues where the title is a foregone conclusion, and that word is "Austrian"
Tanganga to Augsburg confirmed. Loan with an obligation which is presumably based on appearances and/or them staying up.
In Roo’s defence though, when we’re rejecting offers for Sanchez, then it makes the frustrations semi-valid. We pissed about with Tanganga too and I think we’ve ended up agreeing to a lower option offer now with Augsburg because of it. Plus Lilywhite Rose saying we’re pricing White too high for potential suitors at the moment, hopefully that changes as he’s a decent talent but with zero future here. We can’t say we need to shift in order to replace but then reject offers or haggle for unreasonable fees. Dan KP did say just the other day too that rumours are Levy’s still demanding unrealistic fees for players. No issues him doing so with Hojbjerg for instance, but ridiculous with genuine deadwood.
I hope it's not an appearance obligation. I find them to be counter-productive, as the player's selection isn't purely based on merit.
I wish him only the best. After a hugely promising start, injuries and a succession of idiots in the dugout have seen his career totally derail.
I think journos have previously said it was based on remaining in the league, which should be doable.
Nah I completely agree with all of that. We have an enormous FFP window of opportunity and an enormous amount of money from sales. We should not be holding up player moves over nominal sums if delays in moving them on is what is blocking further recruitment of players the coach wants for the project (sorry).
He's obviously got severe brain trauma from his old, unhealthy habit, to be fair. Should never have played for Arsenal.
