Striker aside the XI isn’t looking terrible don’t get me wrong and a lot of that is down to Ange already, but that striker situation really is horrendous. Relegation quality player replacing arguably the best in the world in the position, frightening drop in level which I think will cost us throughout the season.

 

Keita and Ox left at the end of their contracts, Henderson is 33 and Fabinho made a money move to Saudi. I share your frustration around the lack of outgoings and the stall in the window post-Kane to now but to equate the Liverpool midfield situation to ours is a false equivalence IMO

 

To be fair, 2 of those midfielders went to Saudi for well over market value. If they don't sell Henderson and Fabinho for over inflated prices They probably wouldn't have spent £100m plus on a new midfield.

 

I mean, we're three games into the season. Of course success is in the future. There's a word for leagues where the title is a foregone conclusion, and that word is "Austrian"

In Roo’s defence though, when we’re rejecting offers for Sanchez, then it makes the frustrations semi-valid. We pissed about with Tanganga too and I think we’ve ended up agreeing to a lower option offer now with Augsburg because of it. Plus Lilywhite Rose saying we’re pricing White too high for potential suitors at the moment, hopefully that changes as he’s a decent talent but with zero future here. We can’t say we need to shift in order to replace but then reject offers or haggle for unreasonable fees.

Dan KP did say just the other day too that rumours are Levy’s still demanding unrealistic fees for players. No issues him doing so with Hojbjerg for instance, but ridiculous with genuine deadwood.

Nah I completely agree with all of that. We have an enormous FFP window of opportunity and an enormous amount of money from sales. We should not be holding up player moves over nominal sums if delays in moving them on is what is blocking further recruitment of players the coach wants for the project (sorry).
