ehhhhh bit late to this thread and after reading most of it, have to agree with Blacker-than-knight with his choices adding Iron maiden to the list
Rush - best band in the world still touring coming to the arena in May - got my tickets:headbang::headbang::headbang::emoticon-0178-rock::emoticon-0178-rock::headbang::headbang:

Going to Dublin as well, 1st time they have played Ireland should be megga along with loads of the black stuff.

Immortal Technique, Dilated Peoples, Pharoahe Monch!

Also, Akala, he's english and actually the little brother of Miss Dynamite but genuinely intelligent with his lyrics, check out a tune called 'comedy tragedy history' - little homage to Shakespeare!

Thumbs up to Geordie Gashead.

Talib Kweli - Reflection Eternal is essential listening.

Also for consideration

Wire.

DJ Shadow.

Aphex Twin.

Richie Hawtin.

Slint.

Jay-Z.

Can't stand Immortal Technique, seriously overrated lyricist. Dilated Peoples (Expansion Team is a great album) and Pharoahe Monch are great.

I like Akala as well. But in terms of UK Hip-Hop, Lowkey is head and shoulders above anyone right now. In fact he's probably ahead of anyone Uk or US right now. Really intellegent lyricist, amazing rhymer, makes great music.

Check out Terrorist, Obama Nation, (two of the most powerful songs I've heard in years), Relatives and pretty much anything he's released between 08-present. Everything he released in 2010 was outstanding.

Also, Sadistik is probably the best US rapper at the moment, alongside Nas and Copywrite. Listen to this:

Metallica's Live **** - Binge And Purge 2 DVDs/3 CDs is simply one of the greatest music collections of all time!

On one of the DVD's it has Metallica Live in Seattle 1989 - which is one of the greatest gigs of all time! At their imperial best!

It just a shame that i was only 2 years old then and born over here :(

But hopefully one day when i have enough money i will buy a huge 50/60 inch TV with dolby surround sound and turn the volume up to the max and then just mosh the living room for the next 2 and a half hours! :emoticon-0178-rock::emoticon-0178-rock::emoticon-0178-rock:

There's far more people into Metal music than I expected on here!

Think I'll stick to 'Indie' if I'm honest ;)
