There's more to football than just goals and assists. Jack Grealish is the most expensive winger in premier league history, yet his numbers are relatively poor in Man Citys team. Didn't stop him being a vital cog in a treble winning side though
His numbers were pretty decent at Villa though and he was an established player at that level for a while. It was a case of Man City knowing what they were getting. His low numbers for Man City are largely due to Guardiola making him into a ‘system player’ so he’s less likely to take a man on and try to score these days. Philogene’s had a half-season loan at Stoke and a full season at Cardiff, both with unremarkable numbers. He may well turn out to be a great player but the price we’re apparently paying for him is still a bit of a gamble.
Assists wasn't a thing until the MLS came along. If someone makes a Glen Hoddle-esque crossfield pass, and then the receiving player taps the ball to the player next to them, who then scores from a 25 yard screamer, then the short pass is the assist
Fee is probably on the high side, but then I think it's a reluctant sale from. Villa. Probably wouldn't be allowed to move for anything less. He's looked very promising even though he was in a poor side at Cardiff. Made Greaves look silly a couple of times when we played them. We've seen what can happen with a promising young player who manages to develop end-product in Josh Bowler. Also Josh King going back further. They arent all Cameron Stewarts. I think the suggestion villa are insisting on a buy back tells us what they think of him. .
Oh so did you make it up or did someone else and you just repeating it? Or is there something on Twitter about it? im all ears
You’d think Rosie would tell villa about our style of play, and Emery would piggy back him here free of charge
Looks more like he's told the player about our style of play and his agent has piggy backed him over - against Emery's wishes. Hence the high fee and buyback clause.
Supposed to be 5m isn't it? Seems at the high end to me, and Baz has mentioned the details of the buy back clause delaying things.
