Scotland records lowest drug related deaths since 2017.

just over a thousand died taking illegal drugs. But big pharma or something

I don't think that's entirely correct. Whilst drug related deaths in Scotland have fallen, the majority of those weren't related to illegal drugs, but opiods and other abuse of prescribed medication.

I think cocaine was the highest illegal drug related death but it was a small fraction of the others.

What causes most drug deaths in Scotland?

The vast majority of drug-related deaths in Scotland are of people who took more than one substance, so-called poly-drug use.

Heroin, methadone and other opioids were implicated in 867 deaths but often in combination with other drugs such as "street benzos".

Benzodiazepines such as diazepam and etizolam can be prescribed for anxiety or insomnia but the vast majority of the 601 deaths linked to them were from illegally obtained drugs.

Treble, can only go on the illegal bit from that.

Interesting, I read a while ago that there was a real targeted approach in Glasgow which focused heavily on social care and support which had a big reduction on H and other illegal drug addiction. It was a 3/4 years ago so a bit vague now in the old memory. Not sure if it's related to this either or separate... but I can see it could be, as reducing drug addiction will naturally follow on to reduced deaths from such drugs years later.

Genuine question ... why can't her friends parents walk her home?
When my daughters had mates over I'd walk them home.
Not a dig, it just seems a sensible and healthy solution

I agree about the dangers that cameras bring to our privacy and freedom BTW...

Love the media (well conspiracy media) hype over 15 minute cities.
Imagine living in a deprived area, then suddenly the basic amenities are within a short travel distance, healthcare, leisure, social support all easily accessed.

by GB news fuelled reports don’t look at that or the ideas behind the proposals.

we used to have that but it was taken away…..tell me who do you think will pay for these luxuries you talk about of alls well in your zone and why does it take a restriction of the freedom to roam to have this investment
