He can make cameos and the odd start against the bottom end clubs but we can't carry him every week. We're not good enough, like Fulham were to do it. We need that mobility in midfield
I think you'd ideally have a keeper, centre half, full back and a deeper midfielder on the bench and then have the rest as attacking options. But we're going to get injuries, suspensions and 3 games a week so there's plenty of minutes available. Lokilo will be fine, he was very unlucky not to start and it was probably the wrong call to not start him in hindsight. His end product may not be fantastic but we did miss his pace and directness.
Tend to agree. I think everyone's stuck in what's fast becoming an outdated concept of a best XI and trying to understand how everyone plays, when in reality you almost need 20 players for a season with back ups in case of injury/suspension, and those core 20 will get plenty of minutes with 3 games in a week and 5 subs in games.
Out of possession there’s just as many players who are carried. Tufan, Traore and Slater don’t win the ball back if we don’t have it. Neither of those 3 have the impact in possession either that Seri does. Think you’re picking the wrong luxury player to be bit part. With a front 2 pressing of Delap and Connolly over Tufan, I think the overrun issues become more limited as they’re miles more tenacious then Tufan who still drifts in and out the game far too much. Has been poor 2/3 games
For context, yesterday Seri made the most recoveries, tackles, chances, passes into the final third. And we are talking about him not being a regular! Come on now, his legs are fading but he’s still contributing just as much off the ball as some of these prime age players.
Think that's really harsh on Tufan. It was something you could throw at him last season but not this. I don't think he suits the more advanced roles now he's fitter, he always looks better when he's deeper. Seri's actually not had the best start to the season on the ball either. Yes it was a cracking pass to Connolly yesterday, but he was woeful at Norwich and I thought he was a bit meh yesterday. Him and Slater doesn't work now we're trying to press more, as it leaves us really exposed when a team get through the press. You can say there's others who aren't great either but he's the one getting exposed
Tufan should probably be playing next to Seri or Slater rather than it being Seri and Slater. Tufan at his best is a defensive mid or box-to-box player. Though I suppose that takes away his goal threat on the edge of the box.
I think so too. I'd like to see him properly in the box to box role. I thought we looked better when he went into Adama's role yesterday. It shouldn't detract from his goal threat too much as Slater does plenty of attacking, I just don't think Ozan has the guile to be a no.10. I understood it last year when we had no attacking options and he wasn't fit but now we do I think he needs to revert to his traditional role.
Are we really still talking about Tufan being in the wrong position a week after he scored a hat-trick, and had by far his best game for us, playing in this position? What on earth is the drive for him to play in central midfield (where he almost never has played for us) that is more compelling than his performance against Wednesday? Really feels a lot like a "he's a centre mid on FM" thing.
He literally scored the pick of his goals picking the ball up deep, playing a 1-2 with Seri, pinging it out to Coyle, busting a gut to get up the pitch and then sticking it in the top corner. And his third came from a corner.
Philogene will be some signing if it happens. I can't imagine Baz coming out and reporting it if it is not a done deal. Maybe just the medical to do?
I’ve woke up in the night to find people are talking about dropping Seri or Tufan - two players we are lucky to have at this level. Is this real or just a strange dream?
Very good. Guess it depends what you define as a 'week' from a football perspective. Saturday to Saturday is a week in my eyes, even though it's 8 days.
