He brought Mowbray in despite almost universal outrage from the supporters ...

... some of these theories are pure flat earth <laugh>

Just my opinion, but I reckon is more to do with Speakman than KLD, He has an unbelievable amount of power at the club.

Then why wasn't he replaced this summer, when clearly our preferred choice replacement was available?

And then why sign Dack for him on a 1 year + 1 year deal?

From what I can gather and I may be wrong he is not being forced out it is just that the club have told him that he will not be having his contract extended (due to age and not form) In my opinion they have told him early to give him a chance to find a club who will offer him the 3 year contract he wants or he can play out his contract for us and go on a free next year. That is progress planning and I get why fans don't want him to leave but they also need to understand that he needs to do what is best for him and his family. Is the club being a little short sighted or is this a more structured plan for the future so players approaching a certain age will be moved on so we don't end up like before with a squad of players the wrong side of 30 with no sell on value and are at the club as quickly depreciating assets.

Thats as may, but the bloke at the top will ultimately make the decisions.

To even suggest (not you btw) that KLD doesn't trust the coach so it may be affecting incoming transfers is ludicrous.

    Imagine the conversation -

KS, Hi boss we found the perfect striker, but we need a couple of million added to the budget, data suggests we will triple that in a year, he's exactly what we need

KLD, **** that, go find a loan as i don't trust that prick head coach

Just all what I read and can gather from people I know. I'm certainly not itk. But when interviewed Speakman (who I have a lot of time for) does seem to have an incredible amount of power and its obvious KLD leans on him a lot. Not saying its a good or bad thing, merely an observation. Which, by the way, unless anyone is actively involved on the Sunderland Board is all we can do, give an opinion based on observation

Letting Pritchard go is a big mistake but it’s been on the cards for a while.

Bellingham starting over him and Dack coming in have ended his time here.

So just guesswork and tittle tattle ...

... weren't you recently criticising people for posting gossip as fact.

KLD employs Speakman and 'leans on him' because he was brought in to carry out instructions.

He has no power to do anything outside of his work contract.

No I wasn't...show me one of my posts that suggested that.

I don't think it's anything unusual though mate. KS is Sporting Director, and assumes the responsibilities and the authority that goes with the role. He must be the conduit through which Board policy is transmitted to liaise with the Head Coach and the Head of Recruitment regarding player dealings, both in and out,and he's ultimately answerable to the Board for the performance of his duties in accordance with their remit. It's more or less the role a CEO would have in any business.
And,of course,KLD as Chairman, will trust him to administer policy and oversee progress.

If they want to replace TM then they should have done it. I know amongst the fans the overall feeling was that it shouldn't happen after last season, but if they don't fancy him for the long term then why delay the inevitable? Why wait for **** run of form or something to sack him?

For what it's worth I'm not convinced they wanted to, I think they were looking at their options at the end if the season and will do the same every season.

Mate....i'm not saying its a good thing or bad thing, and its just my opinion, but I just believe Speakman has an awful lot of power at the club...I also said, I actually rate Speakman, so i'm certainly not being critical of the guy in any way... I am ASSUMING because KLD is so young an inexperienced in business, Speakman is taking a much more hands on approach...just a thought

Were we offering bigger wages in League One? Batth and Pritch leaving for other reasons like family/age possibly but freeing up wages has also been mentioned. Could we really have been offering such great wages in League One, so that getting rid of those allows us to bring in multiple replacements.
I think we need maintain a level of experience in the squad, who know the English game. Trying to bring in too many promising players doesn’t work, we saw that in the De Fanti era.

To make clubs sustainable requires investment and I think some people probably don't understand what sustainability actually means. Brighton as mentioned earlier are or have been put forward as a sustainable club but Man City are also a sustainable club. they both have gotten to that point in similar ways but with Man City probably more by funneling money into club through sponsorships rather than loans. However large amounts of cash were invested in both teams to get them to become sustainable and even profitable.
A sustainable premier league club is a very valuable thing and is not to be underestimated. Clubs that year on year make a loss are can still be sold for billions (Man Utd) so sustainable ones can become even more valuable. how much is Brighton worth now ??? I dare say if Tony Bloom was to sell Brighton on the open market today he would be lookin at the best part of 5 or 6 hundred million so his loan which he will probably get some back this year may well be settled over the next few years and as long as they are smart in the transfer market and stay in premier league then his clubs value will probably not change too much.
For SAFC how do we get near that, for me it has already started, how much was our club worth 2 seasons ago, probably 35 to 40 million against what it is wort now, my guess would be closer to 100 to 120 million. That is a lot of growth in a couple of years and sometimes I don't think the fan base sees it.
IMO SAFC are a far bigger club than Brighton with a bigger fanbase world wide and far better chance of capitalizing on that financially. Smart investments and good management and the sky is the limit. Man City were us 15-20 years ago and however they built there club and brand (and not sure if I fully understand or agree with all of the financials) they are currently one of the best teams in the world worth considerably more than the money that has been invested into it and is being run on the most sustainably. People say we can not get there but I think why not !!!
