Development isn’t linear anymore. He broke through at such a young age, he’d had more career minutes at 21 than some have turning 30. Pressure on young players is higher than ever and he was an unfortunate victim to that (alongside his obvious other struggles).

Of course, I just think this discussion has gone on far longer than it merits. He's not coming.

No one has latched onto to anything it was a player discussion and his merits you tool.

Why the personal insult? People have started justifying why we should be trying to get him when we aren't trying to get him. You can go for your life but you're coming off as more than a bit silly. Calling me a tool for wanting to move on from a pointless discussion not helping.

what’s he won? What has he achieved….maybe not ****e, but wayyyyy below the average prem league standard. He’s stole a living a spurs. Done **** all

That's utter nonsense, in his first few seasons at Spurs, he was fantastic, his goal scoring rate was up with Lampard's for the highest goals scored from a midfield player and that's why he got 37 England caps.

He's clearly had his issues and not really had a good time for getting on for five years now, but ahead of that he was way above your average Premier League player.

we all have our own opinions…. 5 years is a long time to waste as a pro footballer

My memory's terrible - but I remember him being great.

Just had a quick look - PFA Young Player of the Year two years running and in 2018, the Swiss based International Centre for Sports Studies rated him as the most expensive midfielder in the world.

But apart from that, he was ****e.
