I thought the new signings all looked the better players last night... Which is quite telling really. It's as if they've not been fully infected by 'the philosophy' yet.

It didn’t work last season did it, we finished 15th hardly a resounding success, and if you watched we we saw last night, and heard the comments from all around then you would feel the same as me

I think that is a bit harsh, last season we were shipping goals for fun and LR came in and made us more difficult to score against. Now he is trying to find a formula that can get us scoring more goals, and with new players coming in and yet to come in, any coach needs time to find the right balance and way of playing that suits. This doesn't happen overnight and LR is an intelligent man, and I am sure he will find a way of sorting it out, but there needs to be a bit of patience IMO.
Midfield stood telling him to keep bringing it forward. Why aren’t the centre backs moving wider to bait the striker away towards the keeper giving him and easy pass. Why is Ingram not doing it faster? Too many questions with absolutely no answers from the players
If you unshackle the players they will play. I find it strange Rosenior is meticulous in his coaching method of posession based football and playing it out from the back but has seemingly never considered the possibility that some teams won’t press high. So maybe not so clever eh? Oh, as an afterthought, it’s ****ing boring to watch as well.
I'd have been right behind this point a few days ago. The only way this happens now though is nothing to do with intelligence. He needs to swallow his pride and make some changes in order to make us more effective, and to be fair, the bar isn't high at the moment. You say about finding a way of playing that suits, but so far we've seen very little to suggest he's willing to change his holy grail footballing philosophy. This is what I'm worried about the most.
I don't believe the players have downed tools, I don't believe the problem lies with Acun's involvement... I think it's literally just the tactics and the fact we're being lead by a man that'll happily die on that hill.
And their indicators never work. Seems to be a German problem affecting BMW and Audi too.
Though maybe it's just when they are moving because they always seem to work when stationary on a double yellow near a cash point.
I actually agree with you, but I think LR is intelligent enough to see if, with the players he has, if it is not working then he will have to change the system. But a few of the players Vinagre and Lokilo, who apparently was probably one of the better players last night, need to bed in. Plus on the right Traore is playing there, and it doesn't work, because Longman looks as if he is away, Allahyar is injured, Christie looks rusty, so no width on the right. Teams are about balance, and as yet the team is imbalanced, so I feel we just have to wait until the team in assembled and settled.
Lokilo played on the right yesterday and looked good (he eventually switched to left wing). Traore played centrally and looked ****e, though because we've all seen how good he can be I'm genuinely willing to chalk that up to an off day. Everyone has them. None of the players individually were the problem for me. It's the tactics, if you can call them that. We had a go at the start and then reverted to possession at all costs, don't advance until they're on top of us. It doesn't work. Even last season it didn't work. We take all the risk at our own end, build the opposition's confidence and kill our own momentum every time we do it.

Traoré was playing in a midfield two which I just don’t think he has the legs for. He’s a #10. 4-4-2 isn’t working imo. I know people put two much emphasis on formations but this 4-4-2 Rosenior has us playing right now is too rigid and he’s giving up a body in midfield for two up top despite the fact we don’t look any dangerous up front with two than we did with one. In fact, we look worse going forward. Needs to go back to a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 with a #10 having freedom to roam around behind a sole striker in front of two midfielders.
Possession football that he supposedly wants is only feasible if there’s an element of fluidity, especially in midfield. The midfielders need to move around constantly to create space for themselves to receive the ball. That’s how Brighton operates. Last night with his 4-4-2, every player looked ****-scared to move slightly out of position to receive the ball. It was so static.
At Norwich it essentially was a 4-2-3-1. Tufan was the 10.
Yeah here's the thing. At some point last year Rosenior decided (and I would say rightly so) that the 442 in defence when out of possession was the way to go forward. He was right. With our injuries then and a lack of options up top it made sense to play simple football.
The issue is a lot of teams have multiple shapes. Man City play a base 442 but when attacking they switch to their 3241 formation by pushing stones up. We dont seem to change when in possession. We go 424 by pushing the wingers high up with the front men. We then drop the midfielders to create a deep box but the gap between attack and midfield is massive. It's remarkably ****ing easy to defend against because apart from the keeper there's no man advantage.
What I find utterly baffling is Rosenior didn't do this last year. When he had Greaves at LB he inverted him and created a man advantage that way and he was quite clever at points. I'm honestly baffled as to what the **** has changed
That 'really good analysis' was complete bollocks in the bits about us. It basically just said no one moved anywhere ever, which I'm sure is what you wanted to read, but it's nonsense. Rosenior explicitly said on the radio after one of the friendlies where we'd played Tufan and one of the strikers, that Tufan wasn't playing up front. Norwich will almost certainly have been the same instruction.
You've said that previously, and it's been explained by several. It really isn't difficult to understand.
It isn't an infatuation. It's simply that Ashbee is the clearest most obvious example to use to describe what we are missing ie leadership, presence, physicality in the middle, etc

Isn't it a coincidence though that we've been said to be missing exactly that every time we've had a bad run in the last 10 years? It's extraordinary how often we lack that one specific thing.
We seem to be going backwards in terms of knowing what to do. At the end of last season it was getting worse but we didn't have any fit strikers so we had an excuse. Full pre season like last year they went to Turkey and it seems to have again done us more harm then good.
A few players have left and few come in. Nothing to right home about but don't need name players if they can play as a team with the commitment that is needed. But they seem to have no idea what each others role is and how to implement it. That's down to the manager and staff in training to show them but on the pitch we have no leaders to take it on themselves to change it it its obviously not working.
Hoping in the next few matches we can show we know how to change it or we are in for a long season.
