Aye, what we need is the modern day equivalent of Whittle, Brabin and Whitney. That can do it at this level.

That 's not what I was referring to. Regardless of whether the players in question thought it was "too hard" and they're coming across as fannies, the concern lies more with what the players have been asked to do in terms of roles and responsibilities.
Which actually goes some way to answering my question earlier as to why they look so confused. We didn't play this kind of football last season under Rosenior, we played out from the back, but we kept the formation the same and there was a bit more fluidity in the formation. Tonight everybody looked terrified of moving out of position and it was only when Tufan, Covil and Coyle came on that we started moving about a bit. From what Rosie said earlier in pre season, it sounded like he wasn't going with a "set" formation, but that the players would be more fluid and interchange a lot more when we were out of possession. Our wingbacks after Coyle came on weren't even on the screen half the time, you could just see the two centre halves and that was with Ingram going for a walk.
He was incredibly critical of the performance and didn't try to gloss over it but I'm sure you'll find an issue with that too.
Ok well apologies but you were asked to expand on what you meant by antics and referenced a player having a tough time during a pre-season session.

Well, I daresay training in the middle of a heatwave probably didn't do them much good either, but it was more about the tactical side of it than the physical.
I've never seen a Hull City side, in a league cup game or wherever, look as confused and lost as they did tonight.
I think LR should be given time to work this out, he rightly sounded annoyed in the post match, which is more positive than Shota and Slutsky sounded after a crap performance. But play like that against Sheffield Wednesday and Lee Gregory will just take the piss out of us. Hell they might even bang Mallik Wilks on just to prove a point.
Hope that's not a players flag.

That overreaction about a nasty element coming back following lockdown that everyone was going on about still an overreaction I suppose.
Hull City head coach Liam Rosenior told BBC Radio Humberside:
"It was unacceptable from the first minute to the last.
"We started okay, scored the first goal but then as soon as we made a mistake we folded.
"We gave the ball away cheaply, there was no movement and there was no-one showing a determination to score."
I don't overreact to games, but that was honestly ****ing tedious. There's quality in that squad - we get to see glimpses of it when we dare to even think about having a go.
I'll start with some positives. All our new signings looked decent. Lokilo gives us something we've been missing out wide, Vinagre can take a ball forwards and take it past players and Connolly looked like he wanted it and stretched the play nicely when we were moving the ball about. Delap again looked like making stuff happen, but we were so negative by the time he came on that it was far too late to build some positive momentum back up. Traore must have secretly signed for Doncaster. He was dire. Other than that I can't say most of the players were even that bad. We just didn't give them chance to play.
I don't want to focus too much on Ingram as it doesn't help when nobody moves for him, but the attitude of 'if they don't press I'll just stand here' is appalling. I honestly don't think the problem is the players. It's this philosophy Liam's got instilled that just doesn't work for us. How many minutes combined tonight did we all watch Ingram with the ball at his feet? We started so well and then as soon as we began playing it backwards at every opportunity and holding the ball back there, we killed off all of our own momentum. One inevitable mistake later and it's 1-1, then it just gradually got worse and worse until we were just waiting to be picked off time and time again, with seemingly no clue how to form an attack. This will happen when your goalkeeper is the starting point for every attacking movement. I don't think we defended well, but then we're purposely inviting pressure on all the time. What's the point in bringing in forwards or wingers this window when we insist on hitting reset and starting everything from the goalkeeper every time we get the ball or hitting reset the moment any player has to take some sort of risk further up the field? Why do we then choose to take that risk in front of our own goal instead?
With the amount of game time we waste passing back and forth at the back, (literally trying to deliberately put ourselves in risky situations in an attempt to outfox the oppositon) we're obviously not going to be creating chances up front. We just end up adding more and more pressure on ourselves until we **** up and give the other team a big boost.
It's like watching Barry from Four Lions. Just keep punching yourself in the face until you get so angry you come back and win. It doesn't work. Fair play to Doncaster though. They didn't rush Ingram and they made us look utterly ridiculous in the process. Even if they had pressed him, and even IF we'd played it around their forwards in rare moments, we advanced a bit, then turn around and go right back to the keeper again like every other 'attack'.
Honestly, I've been positive about us and what the club is trying to do for a while, but **** me, I don't want to see another performance like that again. We're our own worst enemy with this build from the back philosophy. We take all the risk in the wrong places for very little reward. The fast solution to this problem if Rosenior is going to vehemently stick to it is either a new manager that will promote attacking play and taking risks at the other end of the pitch, or we quickly bring in a keeper that can find a player in space, play it in front of them and hopefully the players build confidence knowing he isn't going to give it to the opposition. If we're going to keep playing this way then the goalkeeper is the most important player on the pitch.

Liam needs to realise we can't play out from the back. We need to adapt to other styles as even lower league teams have sussed us out. Ingram looked lost tryna play this style.
