And, of course, your OS bid had absolutely nothing to do with the use of public funds, whatsoever! <doh>

NSIS - of course it did, but we were going to be REPAYING ours, over 10 years I think? Will you be repaying Boris the 17 million tax payer "bung"? <doh>

The 496 million for the stadium - tax payer money - is completely lost if you had got it, flattened it and built your own, making the most of the surrounding area, transport links etc, etc. But it was only ever a "plan B" for you while you waited for NDP approval and it added leverage.

At least with us the 496 million doesn't get completely wasted, I mean a 2 million a year from us, plus rent from others <laugh>

Really?

Firstly they are not "my" signatures, secondly it's up by 2,000 in under a week (8-9,000 a month). If it carries at that pace over the next 10 months then it will be fairly close to the 100K required.

Which stadium, NDP? I don't think you will have that done by then, why do you?

<ok>

It won't continue at the same pace, as it's being spammed to **** on certain forums.
West Ham fans realised that there weren't enough of them to fill it up, so it's been flung at the Goons.
Luckily most of them can't read.

PNP if you really think it's only Hammers and Goons signing up for this then I would think again.

Perhaps we should have a sweep on what the final count is come 5th Sept, 2012? <ok>

Oh, I'm sure that you can find plenty of other equally bitter fans to sign up to it IZWT, but it still won't be taken seriously.
You could probably get a more popular one suggesting that Man Utd be expelled from the country entirely, but that wouldn't happen, either.

Sure you'll be repaying it. How exactly? The money from London is for redevelopement of the Tottenham area, as well. I'd agree about the leverage it gave Levy for the NDP - which is the majority of Spurs fans choice. As for the "wasted" money, it was wasted as soon as the place was built. So £2mm a
Yr from WHU - assuming the dodgy duo actually pay it, plus a little bit elsewhere, hmmmm - let's see now. Should only take about 200 years to get their money back then - without interest, of course.

NSIS - why did you think I put <laugh> at the end of the sentence? Truth be known the 496 million is already down the chute really, the "rent" probably only covers the running costs.

So Stratford didn't need regenerating? I admit the Tottenham area is a comple sh1thole, something needs to be done, but didn't the Goons have to pay out for infrastructure improvements? Did they get any freebies along the way?

Maybe they should have organised a riot first?

PNP - now you're just being silly re:Man Utd.

Spending of public money nearly always generates emotion. I mean Levy was worked up and bitter enough about the WHU/Newham "loan", let alone a freebie.

TfL made investments to Finsbury Park - but that was part of an overall £10b investment in the whole network.
As part of the section 106 planning agreement, Arsenal made payments of £7.6m to improve the stations and transport network in the immediate area.

Public Transport Improvements
• AFC to pay all reasonable design costs associated with developing the public
transport improvements from the grant of planning permission

stadium contract has been let and the Council is ready to spend the funds
requested and necessary consents and valuations have been received) AFC shall
pay to the Council periodic payments corresponding to the expenditure totalling not
more than £7,595,000 to be used for the provision of public transport improvements.

Holloway Road Underground Station Improvements

£500,000
Drayton Park Station Capacity Enhancement Works
• AFC to fund additional works to increase station capacity, subject to the
Strategic Rail Authority confirming that it will meet the Drayton Park Station

build the stadium for the duration of its franchise agreement and for at least 24
months
• The Drayton park Station Service Delivery Specification = the provision of train

A variety of stations are used, fans travel from all directions. If your insinuation is that Arsenal benefited from TfL investment in the network, then yes they did.
But that's nothing out of the ordinary. Any major development will necessarily need transport infrastructure improvements.
But the point is that Arsenal had to contribute £7.6m towards those improvements as part of s106 local planning agreements.

Arsenal didn't have a 'tube station built for them' - we had to pay for it.

Fair enough, I must admit I made that comment without having checked my facts.

Now get back on your own board and stop proving me wrong <grr>

<laugh>

Fair play.

To be fair, there are some discrepancies in the final figures. TfL made a massive investment in the whole network and Arsenal benefited from some of that investment.
Also there were several initial planning stipulations that never materialised, like the new community sports arena, I think instead Arsenal invested money into existing local sports centres.
There is also the issue of the £60m that Islington stated that Arsenal would have to pay for a new incinerator - not entirely sure what happened there. We knocked down the old waste site in the development of Ashburton Grove, so you could argue that it's reasonable for us to pay for a new one.

Overall though - any Council will insist that as part of s106 planning agreements, that the developers pay towards local improvements - and transport infrastructure improvements are usually a priority.
