Tried to reflect after a few hours and try to be as rational as possible without being a bedwetter like some over the road. first twenty minutes impressed by our press and how up we were - Jobe started well, Ekwah looks such a good prospect, Hemir well he looked like a young lad making his debut. Ballard could still be immense for us. We have a good chance for Jobe, a half penalty shout which could easily have been given and then fall foul to a fortuitous goal (however they had only attached twice and each time we had survived luckily)

Second half - why of why do we come out the traps so slowly - O9 loses his man and to be fair a smart finish. Hume then stupidly appears to go for kicking the ball away - I had said to my daughter I would have taken him off moved 09 to rb and brought on Baath just to avoid hat second challenge. We survived a couple of scares and then Pritch made a big difference - is that because he brings experience - if he does go Dack is going to have to perform that role

Last ten we gave it a real go - canny goal and very unlucky at the end

Positives - Ballard and Ekwah (why did he take him off?)

Honest negatives - why are we so easy to score against at home - TM has to really work on this as this has become a really bad habit.

Other points - Jack was quiet today - Roberts better but he must shoot (he had one great opportunity)

I honestly think we will play worse and win but this home form and defensive frailties especially given how individually the defenders are not awful players is a must to sort out

And - we all know we really desperately need an experienced forward who will really help the likes of Hemir

Batth doesnt play for us now despite being on the bench. Weve offered him a deal hes refused aswell as Stewart despite being out best players either side of the pitch. This causes me serious concern

In the season before they went up and the promotion season. Brighton had a net spend of about 20m.

Brentford spent about 30m the season before they were promoted. They used a couple of big money outgoings to fund this.

many positives to take from yesterday, our one touch football especially in the first 30 mins was a joy to watch. However, we did look fragile at the back. But I posted a while ago as to why the club have taken so long to address the striker situation. When Stewart was injured in January, they knew a replacement was needed, we are now in August, into the new season and STILL not a replacement for our top striker who just might never play for the club again. I feel for TM, must be so frustrating for the bloke

Thats the worry....The fact we had a 19 year old leading our line who looked like a rabbit caught in the headlights underlines, we need a striker who has some experience.

TM is sick as a parrot over how this has been handled, you watch if the Connor deal goes tits up he will comment on the whole situation.

Spot on. I said last week that the striker situation should have been sorted before yesterday and was called negative. Goals cost money. If we don’t spend it it’s a gamble.

Its not about age though its about senior experience, i dont mind us signing a 19/20 yr old but they have to have had senior experience under their belt

I thought that the thinking behind this was that their players were too quick, hence why o9 was put in there.

Not having 3 or 4 proper strikers does seem to be our achieves heel.

Not paying for experienced strikers does expose the experimental nature of our own peculiar brand of the sustainable model.

Why would you drop a player because he has rejected a contract offer??? Seems madness to me. The only thing I can think of is that it maybe down to an imminent departure (which I hope to God I'm wrong).
