We'll start spending bigger fees once we get into the cycle of selling the odd player for really good money. This will allow us to sign 2 or 3 really good players which will improve the squad. The owner is putting money into the club but is investing
    wisely

Hemir didn’t do enough. He’s got the frame and build, clearly has ability. Needs to use it though. He’s not ready to lead the line just yet, need help up top this week.

Yeah true mate, just very frustrating when the weakness we have is so obvious and its been that was since Stewart got injured warming up against Boro last Sept, a few million quid spend and we could be major contenders to win the jackpot and get out this league.
Instead we're chasing as Mowbray said our 3rd and 4th options, young lads with potential but zero experience. Its bordering on penny pinching now as far as im concerned from our owners. We have a huge fan base, and revenue must be the highest outside the Prem.

So say we spend loads of money n then dont get promoted, then get hit with points deductions etc??

Spending money doesnt guarantee you good players tho

Id take ekwah everyday of the week over ndong, look at the difference in value but ekwah is the better player

So paying peanuts doesnt get you monkeys

Brighton is the ease example these days with their business. Its all about finding value in the market where others arent looking that will give us our best chance of getting promoted

So i def think its the drink n the emotion of today mate

The subs helped us, thought all 3 did well when they came on
Not including huggins as he was only on for a few minutes. Cirkin had only playsd in 1 preseason game

Im dont mean loads of money, but surely a club of our size can pay up to 5m for a recognised striker and not a kid thats played for a B team in a foreign country for a big club

But what if we value that player at 2.5 millions, why would we pay double what we think hes worth?

What if we have bid 5 million for a player but he wants far too much money to come

Its not just paying the fee, its the signing on fee, wages etc on top of that

I get what you are saying but we have spent money over the last 2 seasons, we cant spend big money like othwrs in our league. Im fine with that, building slowly n sustainable is the way we will get long term success

Ba did nothing. I forgot he was on
    Pritchard changed things
Gooch ran a lot, usually straight into their left back

Taking Jobe and Ekwah off was plain bizarre

But we are literally one goal scorer away from the Prem. Why not just pay a few Million and then reap the rewards?

He's played intermittently and has played a number of positions. If we think he is worth his place in the squad, then he deserves a run of games in his best position (whatever that may be)

We shouldnt be overpaying for players tho thats what got us into the mess we got in

What if we spend 5 million on a striker but hes poor n doesnt score the goals to take us up? Its not as simple as saying lets spend money on a striker and thatll mean we go up

Best example of this is when we signed will grigg, so many thought 'yes weve got a proven goalscorer we are guaranteed to go up', we then didnt and we were stuck paying him for ages despite not being good enough to play for us

Ba was ok today, moved the ball quickly n got himself into some good positions

I do want to see more from him as theres def a player there

Pritchard was decent but he also didn't get himself into any threatening positions to score goals which is what you want from your no10

I thought Ba was a lot more effective than Clarke. Pritchard did change things, which he normally does when he comes on as a sub, which is why I would have left a Hemir on for a bit to see if he could produce something for him.
Agree with Gooch, plenty of energy but no end result.
I thought Ekwah was our best player so was surprised at his substitution.
At times we played some great stuff first half but lacked a cutting edge.
Still excited for the season ahead - roll on Preston on my birthday :emoticon-0105-wink:

So your saying we should just spend life living with caution and not spending money incase it doesnt work out? What do we pay our scouts thousands of pounds a year for?
Thats like not buying a new car incase it breaks down.. If we want out of this league we need to spend a good amount on a decent striker, simple as that imo.
We cant just keep buying U21 internationals and expecting them to take us up to the next level. As fans we deserve better instead of bargain basement shopping.

Yeah. Pritch played really deep but I get why, given the state of the game
TBF Ba was on the opposite side of the pitch to me, so maybe not the best view, but seemed all fart and nee ****e (I believe that is an official scouting term)
I also want to see more of him

To be fair, you can scout a player all you like and he can be a world beater for his current club but sometimes moves just don't work out. At this stage of our development, splashing £5m on a player would be a huge gamble

How are we bargain basement shopping? Something like the 3rd highest net spend in the league last season, spent fees on every signing apart from Dack this summer. Desperately need a forward in but with the rules in place you frankly can’t spend money without bringing money in, which we did on friday so I expect movement this week

How are we bargin shopping tho? As ive said last yr we had the 2nd highest net spend in the league, lets see what we end up spending nxt yr

We pay our scouts to find good players, thats what theyve done as theyve improved us massively since coming in

We dont need to spend a good amount on a striker, luton n burnley didnt spend big money on strikers n they got promoted!!

And yes we should be cautious, but thats not to say we will take risks on the right players tho. Would you rather we go back to our old recruitment policy of just spending money on players that are known??

We came 2 games away from earning over 100m in revenue with nearly half our team injured in the playoffs.
Its a gamble thats more than worth taking, if we dont well end up being a mid table team with Championship mediocrity
