human nature as well tho isn’t it. Everyone involved in the decision making process will want their opinion to be heard more than it is, other than the person who makes the decision.

I wouldn’t want him to not want more say. Shows he’s invested.

It was another interesting thing Mowbray said tonight seemingly trying to downplay expectations. He pointed out that if we’d lost our final two games of last season we’d have finished 12th, but we didn’t so we finished 6th.

It’s easy to forget how tight things were and whilst we all want progression I am nervous that people might end up overreacting to how much of a disaster it is if we find ourselves around 8th place for example. I know some people will hate this but I genuinely think a top 8 finish will represent a good season. And I just hope we make it into the playoffs. Will be tight all the way.

Very conceivable we could end up with more points but finishing lower. Weird league this year, I think about 12 teams are expecting top 6 as a minimum

Most on here won't have had the privilege to watch possibly the finest footballer ever to don the red and white shirt, but I did and loved every moment.
Charlie Hurley was and still is the standard by which all players should be judged. Not only a brilliant footballer but an absolute modest gentleman to boot who loved this club with a passion.

I've only ever heard him mention that he can't really comment on transfers as it's other people dealing with it, I'm sure he will be involved to a degree but he certainly won't be the decision maker

Personally I don't have an issue with it. For years this club was awash with players bought by the previous manager and unwanted by the new manager.

For years we've had Managers bring in their own staffing for it all to change 10 games into the season.now we finally have a structure where the Head Coach lifts out without too much disruption. Evidenced this time last year when the Bald Midget jumped ship for Stoke.

Mowbray knows the model but will of course push for his own signings (Dack) but he's less likely to chuck his toys out the pram if he doesn't get what he wants (like the Bald twat did).

Club is run well (on the pitch) for the 1st time in decades. I have complete faith in KLD, Harvey and Speakman. I know the last one is a trigger for some, but the bloke is completely dedicated to the model and to the remit he's been handed down by KLD.

Doesn't really matter what people on here say, TM has said he gets a say and has mentioned several times about meetings with the recruitment team

Over and over is a tad unprofessional if he knew the job he was signing up for. I'm happy he's coach and would expect him to give his end of season review to upstairs, pointing out players he would be happy with... it must be a tad frustrating for him and the reason he's mentioning it over and over. I'm sure this will end as soon as the window closes, the sooner the better.

The players are paid for and employed by the club, not the manager ...

... its quite reasonable that they should decide who's signed.

Your current girlfriend might give her opinion but you wouldn't let her choose all your furniture.

We've had every other model. This one seems to be working well.

It has to be entirely collaborative. Management hires coach based on style of play they want, coach chooses what he wants in terms of attributes, recruitment and data team gives options. Together they come to a decision.
Although I'd guess Mowbray has already played his joker and insisted with Dack. As long as every move is fully justified by data and/or experience, it's fine. It's when one party starts doing their own thing that problems start.

Poor old Tony can't win at times. It was a q@a session as part of a season preview event.

If he had sat there just saying "nothing to do either me" people would be annoyed.

People have picked out comments, for all we know completely out of context and posted them on twitter.

I found last years interviews with Mowbray a good listen as he would go off on a tangent then drop some nugget of advice in for the player he was talking about.

The one thing I think we can all agree on is deficient squad or not Tony will have them raring to go Sunday and they won't give up till the final whistle.
