I think we will be alright this season, for me it’s about progress and I suspect that’s the case with the owners as well. If we can finish top ten, we know we’re on the right path. I suspect expectation is why people feel so underwhelmed with our business so far, but last season saw us form the spine of a good team, we just didn’t have the manager. We now have what looks to be a promising young manager who has clearly improved us, so we can look forward to hopefully seeing an improvement in terms of league position. I’m quietly confident we’re a couple of signings away from being top ten and I think the signings of the likes of Connolly feel underwhelming because he already played for us and doesn’t feel shiny and new. For the price we’re paying we are getting a very good player and I like what I’ve seen from… Jason Lokilo too. We also have the link up with Roma to take advantage of and there will be players there that we can take if Liam wants, hence why Acun isn’t sweating FFP. Selling Tetteh and a couple of others gives us headroom. As good as Tetteh was, we aren’t going to miss somebody who only played less than a third of the season.
With Connolly I think it's more to do with a long time out with injury and a worry that it will be same again. I like his desire.
Not their first team. I wouldn’t expect Tammy Abraham to rock up at the MKM, but I would think as a way of procuring talented players on the cheap it’s one of the best avenues we have.
Agree with this - it's difficult for Acun as he has to say lots of things to get fans excited to tempt new fans into buying a membership etc. But at the same time that creates expectations and people start getting frustrated when they aren't seeing it happen immediately. Likewise people on here getting frustrated with what Rosenior is saying about being happy if the season was to start today etc... He's hardly going to say "I'm not happy with where we're at and this squad isn't good enough in this state" as we might fail to land all our targets and be stuck with a group who have been told publicly that they're not good enough to achieve anything. It's not going to take much to change this teams chances - current squad I see us about 10th-14th, but add Philogene, Twine, another decent striker and a goalkeeper to challenge Ingram and suddenly it's a top 6 challenger. Currently front 4 could be something like: ------------------Oscar------------- Vaughan---Tufan---Longman With Delap, Lokilo, Traore and Allahyar as attacking options from the bench. It could be: -------------Oscar---------------- Twine---Tufan---Philogene With Delap, Vaughan, Lokilo, Allahyar and Traore as options from the bench. That's just an example, but shows how immediately we could step it up if things come off.
Yep, him from the bench too - gives us many options. I didn't include him in the signings as he's pretty much confirmed, but then also forgot to add him as an option from the bench. And when I say option from the bench, obviously throughout the year injuries and form mean the likes of Vaughan, Traore, Delap and Connolly are starters in other games. Either way, add 2/3 decent attacking additions and it starts to look like very good strength in depth and shows why we're maybe considering letting Allahyar and Longman go.
Err I was pretty confident you didn’t mean first team players So you think we will get some u18’s some u21’s? I’m sorry I just do not see it at all
