I was quite surprised he chose Charlton, because they've already got lots of striking options. Maybe it was just closer to home. I think we need a big lad up front anyway. Sinclair and Thomas are both better than May in lots of ways, and will create a lot of chances for the others.
Tom Davies released by Everton is training with Rovers at the present time, and Portsmouth have denied interest in Celtic's Bosun Lawal
Matthew Cox is expected to join Rovers on a season long loan from Brentford, plus possibly an unnamed player possibly defender from a premier club
New loan signings from Brentford Matthew Cox and Tristan Crama, Jed Ward has joined Wealdstone on loan for the season
Cox, 20, served as back-up to David Raya on 24 occasions last season, as well as playing for Brentford B during their Premier League Cup-winning campaign. He was part of England's 2022 UEFA European U19 Championship squad and started in four of the team's five matches during their victorious campaign, being named in the Team of the Tournament. Last season, Cox was a member of England's 2023 U20 World Cup squad and made four appearances. Brentford head coach Thomas Frank said "Cox has all the attributes a modern goalkeeper needs. He has very good positioning when coming for crosses and is a great shot stopper and with the ball at his feet. He has a hunger to acquire new tools in every training session, a mature personality and outstanding learning skills." Centre-back Tristan Crama, who hails from France, joined Brentford from Béziers in 2020 and has regularly represented the B side - indeed, both Crama and Cox featured in this month's friendly with Rovers, which the Gas won 1-0 thanks to a Scott Sinclair strike. Crama scored for Brentford against Rangers in a pre-season friendly in February 2022.
We’ve now signed another young keeper - ex Saints stopper Matt Hall. That’s three goalies in the building after Jed Ward has gone on loan to Wealdstone.
After the Swansea game, Barton said he wanted 4 more signings. Cox and Crama wouldn't count as they signed before Barton said this. GK Matt Hall would be one. Midfield trialist Teo Kurtaran has impressed and looks set to sign. So that's two. Two more due then hopefully. Ex-Everton midfielder Tom Davies is training with us only to keep fit. He will most likely end up in the Championship.
I think JB said at the beginning that Tom Davies would probably end up at a championship side, but nobody seems to be rushing to sign him at present. Teo Kurturan looks likely to be offered a contract according to Dan Hargreaves
According to Bristol Live Rovers have had a bid of in the region of £300.00 accepted for Connor Taylor and is set for a medical in the next 24hours
