He was a miss. I mean we sound a way but a fit Stewart would of had us pushing top 2. Height , work rate and runs are great. Not having that option bite us in the arse a few times last year.

Hemir looks canny, but is young and will need time to adapt. Think the clubs finally hit a point with Stewart now though and if someone is willing to hand over a few million then it's a clean break.

Replacement for Stewart likely to be in before we let him go? Will be the meltdown of all meltdowns from some (mainly on Twitter) if not

Already someone in Nixons comments saying this highlights how desperate we are for money and how this highlights speakmans failures. Large portion of this fanbase annoy me

I agree he was a miss, in attack and defence, but it's a bit more complicated imo.

If we'd only lost Stewart I think we'd have adapted, but with the absence of Simms, Ballard, Batth, Evans, etc, it was just too difficult a situation.

I'd guess the club are working on bringing in a replacement but won't want to make it too obvious so they get the best price for Stewart.

Selling him, before agreeing a new striker, could also push up the price we have to pay.

I don't think we'll be relying on Hemir but, once he's fit, who knows.

Nixon suggesting we might get £7m for Stewart which would be a result considering the situation he’s in and the length of contract.

Could / should have been more but I’m amazed Southampton are taking the risk at that price. I think it’s a good deal for them, just surprised they’re doing it (if any of this is real)

I think he will be a huge miss but I guess it’s hit breaking point.

Like you say, Hemir looks good but he’s young. Used to playing in front of crowds of 500-1000 max, so it will be a lot of pressure if the fan base are expecting him to be Stewart’s replacement.

If he goes we need another number 9 and another forward who can be either middle or wide.

Teams last year maybe didn’t know exactly how we were going to play without a focal striker but as with any new system a team plays, the second season is harder as others have had more time to do their homework. So it will be harder for us.

If we can get £7 million for him I’d say take it and re-invest it

Really hoping the Stewart saga is sorted sooner rather than later, he's been amazing for us, but if he doesn't want to commit to the club then he can go and the club can move on.

Hemir looks a good signing and will contribute this year, get another striker in to fight him for the starting spot and see what happens, we have a couple of options in the youth teams now for the 3rd striker and potentially Jewi could also do a job if needed.

We obviously have a strict wage budget / structure and quite rightly we won't break it. It can't be that bad if good players are coming / signing new deals.

I’d take £7million for Ross right now.

Probs half his real value but so many variables, and it’s unsettling now, we need it boxed off.

I’d want add insult included on top like, in case he does get fully back to his best.

It’s a fairly small portion, it’s just that they’re a very vocal minority.

Empty vessels make the most noise and all that.

They are embarrassing, every club has them.

Most probably dont even watch our games

I honestly couldnt less if stewart stays or goes now, as others have said just want it sorted

7 million would be good business with him coming off his injury n only having a yr left

That money could be used on 2 quality players

I think Hemir is going to be immense for us. We've already proved that age doesn't matter. Other strikers whoever they are may be in danger of playing second fiddle before long.

The vast majority of our support don't post on forums.

Those who do are generally pleased with what the clb are doing.

The few pro-whingers seem to contain a high percentage who never go to games, experts who always know best, Mags in disguise and internet weirdos.

You have to admire their tenacity and relentless determination <laugh>

We maybe missed a trick not getting Broadhead. Hasn’t lit it up but he would have developed here.

If we reinvest a decent portion of that £7m into his replacement I'll be happy. Ideally we want someone with a similar style though, they have to run the channels, chase lost causes and graft.

They'd be mad to pay that with his current injury.

They’re miles apart physically but cannon is that type from what I’ve seen of him which admittedly isn’t a lot, grafted his knackers off against us though
