Agreed, and the converse is true under LR. We now finish games well and score a lot of late goals. Fitness will be a part of that but also the style of play, controlling the ball instead of chasing it all game, conserves energy and tires the opposition.
I've said it on here before. I dont think an inexperienced manager like that was going to get last season right purely due the accelerated start of the season thanks to the winter World Cup. Now that we've heard Shota didn't have any respect for a lot of players its not hard to see why fitness went quickly
Mmm, maybe Fenerbahce signing Philogene and then loaning him to City for a year? Could assist with FFP rules.
This constant loaning is becoming quite concerning. It's absolutely fine to loan players in the Darlow mould, ie ones that will come in and make an immediate difference. But, we're getting back into the realm of loaning youngsters we have no chance of signing permanently who are actually risky signings and only benefit the parent club
For once we agree. I’m personally not a fan of loaning core players unless there’s a buy option. I know some like Harry Wilson for example made a huge impact and people would say they’re worth it but the issue starts when they return to their parent club. It’s almost like losing a key member of your squad.
At this stage of the window these are the only loans you get really. Once players fall down pecking orders is when players like Darlow come available
The funny thing was that Harry Wilson was a backup option after we couldn't get Rolando Aarons. It was a punt that came off rather than anything else, but we still couldn't keep him the following year so it was pointless really. It's just becoming a real trend again. Everyone's getting excited about maybe signing Twine, but that's a loan. He's not someone who interests me in the slightest on loan, it's still a risk as he's only made 5 championship starts and if he does do well, Burnley pocket the profit and we get left with a massive hole to fill and no transfer fee to be able to fill it with. He turned us down, so let's move on. Philogene is another one, potentially loaning him from Fener and we're meant to get excited. He's a raw kid who's clearly got ability but still with a lot of learning to do and we'll see nothing for improving him. It's odd, they've said we wouldn't spend money on Darlow's fee because all money was going towards the attackers but it looks like we're about to fill it with 4 loans.
It’s gonna be mostly loans and free transfers I reckon. We keep getting told conflicting things. Rosenior said he’s identified players and has a budget, Acun and Kesler say we’re close to the FFP limit. I appreciate the transparency from the ownership and management about our financial situation and transfers but every time they speak about it I have more questions than answers. A lot of it is as clear as mud.
The lack of accountability over last summer's mistake bugs me more and more. Acun still says we recruited well. The likes of Vale, Baxter, Woods, Sinik, Figs and Pelkas cost us £4m in wages alone and contributed very little. That's shocking
And what accountability exactly are you looking for? "Acun - you wasted your own cash and the team only finished 13th, so please now resign yourself as chairman and sell the club."
