So basically, we can't meet CL requirements. Unless Andersen & Kell Watts classify ( alongside Longstaff & Dummett). Think Miley is too young, but Andersen 'might' just count in terms of age? Anyone else who can qualify - and take up an important space in the CL squad? Well done Mike Ashley for an excellent youth development policy and long term sustainability plan. Really had no ****ing clue.
Is it one of those things where we register 2 less than we could and say those are the home grown spaces?
I think it's a minimum quota required. So not sure what we do. I'm sure there must be at least 4 eligible, otherwise it was crazy letting Matty go - even if just to fill the quota and not necessarily play.
Nah you can just register less. You can have a squad of 25, with 4 HG at club and 8 HG in association. If you can only fill 17 slots as you had none HG at all then that's what you go with, we'll be able to have 23+ easily as is. Indeed I'd go further as suggest that we'd have kept Matty Longstaff if we didn't think we'd have been able to register 25 as is.
Fair enough if we can simply reduce the squad number. I had understood it to be the homegrown (own team development) was more of a minimum quota, rather than a potential blank space in the squad.
Any chance you boring ****s could talk about signings instead of using words like quota regarding primary school calculations.
Anderson definitely qualifies as home grown, Joe White is also an option, he’s 20 and been with us since a kid
I had a look at the squad earlier including the u21’s…..we have plenty to fill the 4 HG quota, ideally you’d want them to be first team quality but if you look at most CL squads in previous years most teams have a couple of kids in the squad to fill the quota
