I don't mind Karius staying as long as it's 3rd choice but giving Dummett another year seems a bit weird to me.
Dummett is one of our few homegrown options for CL. You need 4 who have been developed at the club for 3 years since under the age of 21, so we have very few options.
Karius is plenty good enough for his role of third choice GK. As for dummett, he'll literally be emergency backup for our CL registered squad, as one of our x4 trained at the club for three years under 21 (of which we only have two I think, including dummett). It's that or have an empty space in the CL squad. Makes perfect sense.
"Club-trained" players are those who were on the club's books for at least three years between the age of 15 and 21. Whereas, he will be considered an "association-trained" player if he was on another club's books in the same association for three years between the ages of 15 and 21. We need minimum of 8 "homegrown" in our CL squad, of which at least 4 need to be "club trained".
It’s the home produced home grown quota you need for Europe. Have to have 4. Obviously under 21 are separate anyway. Up to now we only have 2 including Dummett
