They're keeping the cards extremely close to the chest this year so I doubt we'll hear until it's done like we did with Delap
Acun said the other day.. "There was a player we were very upset about because we couldn't convince him. We spent 2 days together in Turkey. Recently, the boy called me. I can't forget that energy, he said, I want to come to Hull City. I'm waiting for that boy to come. He is one of England's most important talents. It's coming, it's coming..." Im going to guess its Twine. I cant think of any other English player that we were that close to signing last season. I seem to remember reading an article last year that Twine and his dad were flown out to Turkey to meet Acun.
Last time I could find Baz responding to anything with regards to Twine. Doesn’t seem to be any other instances this summer. Certainly doesn’t deny it either.
Cos hell be down the pecking order in the PL and Burnley want him to play. Bit like us with our development loans. Not saying it's a definite, but it ain't the first time the names slipped
I'm sure Howden, Toast and that postcode fella were all saying Twine (as well as Bradley) were very close a few weeks ago. Obviously they weren't that close but it seems likely to me that we are or were at least in serious talks to get them.
I think that's a tad optimistic. He finished the season well with Burnley and will have a place in their squad. I'd assume he want to give it until January at least before he looks to go elsewhere and play, it's the PL after all and he was playing in L1 12 months ago. From what Baz's saying we don't seem to be too far away on a winger and a no.10 and I can't see how they'd let him go yet as they'll need to add more bodies first. He'd be a cracking signing though but if he was available, there would be an almighty scramble for his signature and I'm not sure we'd come out on top either
Kesler said one of the players they were close to signing was wanted on a pre-season tour and they’d have to wait till after then to get it done. Burnley are going on one so that would add up. Acun has made it clear that one of the players they pushed hard for last summer and offered a 3 year deal too. The giveaway was the comment about meeting up with the player and his dad. If I recall rightly Acun said at a press conference he’d done exactly that last summer to try and get that deal done.
Because he was very close to signing last year and we seem to have the lads trust. It'll be a loan though, no doubt. You're right we probably would be outbid if he was a permanent but we fought a lot off for Delap. Isn't just Preston who wanted him back
But on a loan means that everyone will be after him. I thought he'd be a great permanent signing last year, but I'm not overly bothered this year (I'm certain he'd do well though)
Wasn't everyone after Delap? Style of play, dressing room, coach, track record for developing talent all come into it. It's less about the money more about the development opportunity. Burnley likely have big plans for him still. Just want to see him thrive.
Our record for giving kids an opportunity in the first team and adding value is pretty ****ing good though in recent years. if you think Preston didn't want him back and another prominent NW club then you're severely underestimating him.
We develop our own talent very well, but I can't remember the last young loanee we developed well Vale and Ebiowei were both in demand and both tanked with us. The Vale one especially will be concerning to clubs as he wasn't given a sniff really
Darlow wasn't young but we rehabilitated his career to the point we priced ourselves out of the market. Also are you too young to remember a certain Frazer Campbell and Harry Wilson? Longman was **** hot on loan for us. Same with Jones. Slater was another successful one in recent history albeit at a lower level initially and less prestigious names.
