They could have done that this summer, but he's chosen to stay here. That says a lot, especially when the Saudis were in for him
It's not the Saudis that are the issue. Man Utd want him and they will be the ones sniffing round again all season

Need to make some space first pal.
Defensive midfielder is imperative. Even if we have to pay for one over the age of 24. You don't get 30 year old quality Defensive midfielders for nothing always. They don't grow on trees.

I'd like that Thom Haye. Wonder if that interest in genuine.

Not Abline?
Nice one, that’s the lad I was trying to think of.

Matthis Abline
Rennes
20 years old
Centre forward
1.82m

Shame if it’s a non-starter.

…. Looking at some online highlights of Abline, it seems like he's a very exciting striker.

He's a bit of a Jermain Defoe-type striker in that he's usually inside the penalty area, latching onto loose balls and putting them in the back of the net.

Abline also has a lot of pace about him and he's always looking to move forward with the ball, so it's safe to say that he's a very positive and exciting poacher.

It seem that way we're doing things these days are polar opposite to the old days. Way back when we would get rid of 4 or 5 players.... then look to replace. Teams new we had a few quid so the piss was taken. Now, we've brought in first, and as Wheatsheaf has said, get a few out the door.

Didn't go there this summer either? People panicking that he can be poached at any time yet he's chosen to stay here

Not panicking as I'm not really fussed, just stating scholarship contracts mean nowt, really. It could easily just mean he thinks he's got more chance to show what he can do if he stays here one more year than if he goes to the Prem now. That way his first pro contract (whether that's here, United, or anywhere else) will be for bigger money. If he signs a pro contract with us next summer, that will be the indicator that he's dedicated to the club, imo.
