That is only Pep’s opinion. What does heknow? Will hold judgment until the not606 Football Manager court of opinion has given its verdict.

LR specifically said he wanted to get his transfer business done early but all managers say this every year, it is just another football cliche. Acun and Tan know that signings earlier in the window cost more money than waiting for the close of the window. When club's and player's expectations drop due to the transfer deadline looming, they realise they will be stuck with a large wage bill to pay or that the player will be still at a club he was hoping to leave, that is when deals get done.

From what I last heard, it is going to be a quiet window in terms of incomings. I know we all thought that anyway but it was confirmed to me last night that 'don't expect to see too many signings and nothing really imminent'

Is this quiet in comparison to last year I assume? Still feel like we need at least 4 or 5 depending on outgoings but that would by all accounts be quieter

    True.
But why say it, and so specifically? (And it was not to pressure on Acun / Tan because that's not how they work together).
I suspect Rosenior expected more than just 1 loan signing by now.
Hopefully key signings, albeit only likely to be a very few, are made well before the season starts, and not left until the final days of the window, or else once again we are playing catch up.

Yeah I think the whole spiel from Acun, Kesler and Rosenior about talking to agents and clubs as early as April and wanting to get business done as early as possible was a load of piss and wind. Reckon it will be mostly loans and free agents towards the end of the window.

This summer is the equivalent of spending all your money at the pub and you don't have enough for a taxi so you have to walk home or try to bum a lift off someone else.

The proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

I love that this particular piece of meaningless drivel has replaced a perfectly good pudding based idiom and sports summarisers et al blithely continue to use it thinking that they are expressing an actual opinion.

How do they then sell the promotion dream, LR might have told the players we are good enough for promotion…..in real world we aren’t

Aren't we? We weren't far off last season even with our injuries.

I dont think we are a million miles away but at the same time I would rather the club build the project over time rather than have constant transfer windows like last season

We might even try and get a proper tune out of Tobias Figuereido - his career history suggests there has been a proper player there in the past, time for a reprise.

Supposedly 2 players who were instrumental in that; Greaves and Oscar are on their way.

Yes. I don't think he's going to be a key player by any means, but I do think people have written him off a bit too dramatically. He had a crap autumn culminating in the horror show at Swansea and he's clearly the 4th best centre back at the club. But I think talk of replacing him in that role might be fanciful if we aren't signing many players.

And if they go there'll be money to spend on replacements.

Can anyone tell me how we’ve gone from one of the lowest wage bills to the top 8?

Does that include the likes of Vale, Darlow and Pelkas?

Surely that’s room for movement? Or does it simply depend on from income to money spent?

I imagine it doesnt take a lot to jump above others in the championship. Couple 20k plus earners and you're there

Current squad is good, and certainly one which means the threat of relegation should be something of the past. However to suggest we can make the play offs with the current squad is not realistic in my view.

I’m not sure that’s true, widely not rated at Forest until a decent patch in a winning side in his last season.

Honestly we were a midtable side second half of last season with players out injured and some square pegs in round holes. You look at someone like Coventry last year who, in my opinion, had about 2 really quality players in Hamer and Gyokeres and they pushed on. I dont think its out the question to sneak in and be in and around. Granted I think promotion is probably a pipe dream.
