That's a very encouraging signing. Signing players that we actually need is a big step forward. The Maddison was a dance in the 60's I once had a jazz record called Maddison Time. So it's Maddison Time at Spurs we can hopefully look forward to Spurs dancing through the opposition.
Michael Bridge said earlier about how Ange had only just left the training ground (was around an hour or so before Maddison’s announcement), so we can assume he’s had a face to face chat with Maddison on arrival along with any previous chats about joining. After it emerged he spoke via video call to Vicario too, getting the feeling we might be giving the manager a bigger say on incomings than what we’d usually do. Ange does seem to have a good eye for talent for his system too, his experience with rebuilds in Australia, Japan and Scotland shows that and it’s a promising sign he’s got an idea of what he wants to do with us. Both signings so far “make sense” and the links with Tapsoba and van de Ven are also ones many of us feel are right. Nice to feel a little excited about the club having a plan again.
The disaster happening in slow motion was us turning the best start ever to s*&t last season. I think confident is a bit strong. It is akin to trusting referee decisions since this happened….. We may score a goal, but there is always a chance against certain teams, especially when it matters to us. Once (much more than bloody once!) bitten, twice shy. There is always a chance to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory with Spurs. Until the back line is sorted and we have a little more steel in midfield, I won't be confident that all the good work can't be undone by some Levy missteps. I mean….. Confident?
Presumably something like this although this is from the original John Waters classic film Hairspray!
That's it Martin, thanks for finding that. I had a different version but that's the tune I was talking about.
Maddison is a good addition, and a player we need as we explore Ange’s preferred way of playing. I do have concerns over the amount of time he’s spent in the medical room though. With that in mind, another back up option might be worth considering for the squad, whether that’s a youngster from the academy or someone else we sign.
Ultimately this is Levy's call. Kane isn't the type to throw a tantrum and refuse to train if we refuse to sell. It all boils down to what is a huge gamble: take circa £80m now and invest it in the rebuild but with the complication that Kane is irreplaceable, or keep him and hope to goodness Ange is a miracle worker and we progress so rapidly next season Kane signs a new contract. The third permutation is, from the Club's perspective, the worst: we don't progress much and Kane leaves for free. That's the gamble. Over to you, Daniel.
Say he does go, who do we go for , I'm not a follower of the game outside the UK, do we blow the lot on a name ,tried and tested or do we take a punt on an up and coming kid /kids I cannot imagine Spurs without Kane and certainly cannot imagine Richarlison taking over
That version is by The Ray Bryant Combo. I know because I've got the original soundtrack from that film on CD, purchased back in the late 80's. Whilst I've never been a huge fan of soundtrack albums I absolutely love all the songs on that CD, especially the title track featuring Rachel Sweet, she of B.A.B.Y fame back in the late 70's, if you remember her?!
