I take that as a positive (not setting expectations high). His stats are improving year on year, albeit not flying. So reasonable expectation needed as he’ll be stepping back up again. 38 appearances, so hopefully wouldn’t experience the lovely new medic room too often. Free signing too.
The lack of fitness in comparison to other teams in the league must also have a lot to do with how many old sods we have in our team. Our average age has been higher than a lot of other teams for a while.
According to the Twitters we've fielded loan enquiries for Sinclair Armstrong but GA is undecided. It's a tough one, under normal circumstances you'd say 100% loan to work some of that rawness out of his game but he's something of a proto-talisman for us now and our squad is so wafer-thin I'm not sure we could let him go out.
Considering the state of our squad and team, he would be the first name on my team sheet, nevermind loaning him out
Did anyone else see the rumour on twitter a couple of days ago about Troy Deeney seen at Heston? I remember him being very critical about us when he was linked to us a few years back. Anyone think he has anything to offer now?
Someone suggested it could be do with coaching badges. He's a non-footballer in my eyes. His interview on Louis Theroux's podcast was really good though.
All quiet on the western front then as squad training begins today. No news on DoF replacement. No player news. Lots of pics of swish training ground facilities though (proud as I am of the new development, I can only take in so many shots of new rooms, gyms and changing rooms). 39 days to go to kick-off.
I'm not surprised. Any qualified candidate will realise our owners have just backed the manager over the DoF, to the extent that our DoF has walked away. Not exactly inspiring for any potential candidates.
Hardly inspiring is it ? I liked him but several managers never thought he was good enough, does this indicate that Chair is on his way or Willock ?
I got the impression from the messaging from the Club on Les's departure and from other reporting of that, that replacing him was going to be on the back burner and Gareth would be taking care of the close-season at least for the 1st team. Not sure how he can handle All the football ops. at the Club, or whether Gareth will be able to produce a squad good enough to keep us in the Champ., but delaying the appointment of a new DoF will also save cost I guess.
I reckon both will get sold if we can, but that may well not happen until close to deadline day, if at all.
Agree they may be on their way....but this is nothing to do with them. Gareth has said we need more speed down wings...Smyth is a winger.... a completely new position for us...not sure we have had a winger since we sold that guy Paul Smyth
It just feels as though we got relegated and all current activity is for preparation for a forthcoming L1 season. Let’s hope things change but it feels quite worrying if we lose all our decent players which is likely.
