He intrigues me to be honest. He is coming up to 20 years as an MP. He could have left and made a fortune like others have. He just keeps going though. He strikes me as competent and capable, but also an arch politician too. I like his challenge to the developers sitting on huge amounts of land and not building. I wouldnt be at all surprised to see him finally get his dream of being leader after the next GE.
He's run for leader twice so I can't see him achieving that tbh. He also has a habit of knifing people in the back and picking the wrong side, I think he was the one who praised Blair over Iraq more than most. But he has his supporters so who knows ... ... if Johnson and Truss can manage it.
I know somebody who worked for him in one of his ministries. Agrees with most of what clever, hardworking and always polite... encouraged others to deliver. Ie opposite to bullying Raab.
Like him or loathe him, Gove is the most able person in the current cabinet. Mystery to me why he's been so anonymous in the last couple of years. My guess is he's either bored with not having a more prominent role or he's playing a political game. For the record I disagree with him on most policy things, but I admire his political manoeuvring.
The conservatives are going to have be very selective in their next leader. They need someone who can be an effective opposition to Starmer and lead an effective opposition team. Gove might be a solid choice. He is experienced enough to understand govt and therefore push Labour on things that dont make sense. If he can do that wuthout the histrionics we see currently it would be welcome. PMQs might well bring him down to a base level of challenge and debate, maybe he can rise marginally above it. The tories need a period of intelligence, dilligence, and solid policy challenge. They need to be a respectable opposition that behaves likes an opposition and drives Labour to think hard and deep. Maybe he is capable of bringing together what will be left of his party to do that.

Because he was the victim of the working class backlash against politicians who tried to block a democratic vote, unluckily for him Farage didn’t prioritise his constituents like he did with Cooper,but aye like you say that’s democracy, just that we lost the most honest decent mp we’ve ever seen
Farage did unofficial deals with the Tories,as to not contest certain seats,fortunately for Cooper her constituency wasn’t one and took over 8000 votes away from the Tories allowing Cooper to scrape in by just over a 1000 votes
