Look it another way if you had rented a house from 25 years ago you now owe exactly the same monthly to your landlord as you did 25 years ago -+ inflation over those years
By a house 25 years ago on interest only for 100,000 pay it off now and you will probably end up with 150,000 to 200,000 in your back pocket.

I know you are right Rooch, but I have never had the bottle to do it. I wish I had because looking back it was easy money

In some ways Johnson was dealt a bad hand but he was reckless with how he played his cards imo.

His main tactic seemed to be to keep throwing more and more money in the pot and hope everyone blinked first.

He claimed credit for everything, stated that everything was world class and failed to pass the buck ...

... in retrospect things don't look too clever, questions are starting to be asked about his 'Ukraine strategy'.

I remember watching a documentary a few years ago about a couple of school teachers, they started buying houses off plan by putting £25 deposit down at an agreed price. By the time the houses were built they had appreciated in value that much and were in such demand that they sold them immediately at a massive profit. They sold thousands of houses this way and ended up multi millionaires.

The builders have got wise to that now and won’t give you a fixed price on a house bought off plan or have other things in the contract that prevent you from cashing in.

I missed this little gem from Sir Keir this week. The man who is committed to abolishing the house of lords, as soon as he can, and who has called it indefensible, is planning on appointing a bunch of new labour peers to the same house of lords once in power.

I can imagine the conversation now:
Keir: "will you be a labour peer for me?"
Some ex Labour MP, maybe called Tony or Gordon, for example: "delighted to help Keir, when do I start?"
Keir: "next week, but dont get comfortable as I will sack you asap"

I get the impression this might be another case of him putting the brakes on his plans. We will find out soon enough, one way or the other.

I suspect this issue won't be a vital issue at election time tbh.

It's definitely not one of Rishi's five pledges.

No surprise that Clacton has been named the worst seaside town in the UK and the worst for anti social behaviour. It's rife for knife crime, sexual assaults and the government recently declared the sea unfit to swim in.

Never mind Brexit will sort all that out.

According to the 'leavers' the good times are just around the corner ...

... but more likely a rapist or a mugger with a knife.

Is it not because of the ‘ remoaners’ that these muggers and rapists are not in Rwanda? Asking for a friend

There is not much of an argument that the HoL is anachronistic, Blair did some changes, but nothing has happened since. I suppose the Cons like it. The party controlling the HoC just creates lots of new Lords to give a majority. Its ridiculous.

Imho we do need 2 chambers but it needs to be elected, representing from all regions. Similar powers to now.

Usually the Labour Party has this on its agenda/manifesto. Presumably if Labour is elected it will initially create new Labour peers for a majority, the question will be will they then force through change?

I didn't know that everyone who voted remain is in favour of illegal immigration and certainly didn't realise they have the power to prevent the government carrying out their plans.

    I stand corrected.

    Question Time last night.

"Conservative MP John Redwood says the UK has received some dividends from Brexit and he lives in hope there will be more.

He says there are big reductions in outgoings to the EU, which the country is enjoying."

That's made me feel a lot better.

Weird comment - Are you saying every criminal is an illegal immigrant like?
Fallen for the Rwanda bluff though it seems.
