Theres nowt like slipping under the radar, mags & brighton have a bit pressure on them to continue along as they have or improve, at least 1 will drop off....meanwhile Villa might fly & some will think where have they come from....having been there all the time not noticed....simply the media havent bigged them up

Agree completely. But, like everything else in the game, the academy set up is the way it is because a certain few clubs want it that way. If it changes, it will be to suit them.

These clubs, and those other few who call the shots in Europe, are now an out of control, dominant parasite.

It's like when we were in the Championship under Keane. Just got on with it when all the focus was on Leeds and a couple of others, along the outside lane come sunderland.

By that analysis, is a way to compete in the current climate to develop our academy into not just a very good one, but into the best outside the top 6 or so? Couple that with the well-defined path into the first team and there could be fewer more successful.

We would still lose youngsters, but less of them.

Yep, Id say you're right. Just a pity about the cancerous grip those clubs have.

completely, wernt millwall top when we played them & they were 30 point....or close to ahead of us...we won then overtook everyone, all of a sudden everyone kinda looked as if wtf's happened here & we were top.

why im half pleased there mentioning leeds, leicester, southampton expecting immediate return to the prem....also weirdly norwich after signing a couple of older players....happy we make our signings, hit the ground running & shock the lot of them.

i doubt anyone in the championship will play better & more exciting brand of football....helps us too the rule change on multiple balls, we want to raise the tempo...older sides to be worn down after 60/70 mins..only to see a group of kids with pace warming up on the sideline

last season was great...next season has to potential to be aa good as Keanes team....or better & maych reidys 105 point team

Southampton will be the strongest I think. Don’t think they’ll lose many of their players

Depends what their attitude is like. If they're so used to losing, it can have a massive impact. We know that better than most.

I don’t know all the rules etc. but would makes sense to limit to only going to academies within a certain distance of home (or nearest cat 1). Uprooting whole families to go to say Man City academy or separating them from their families as boarders just seems wrong to me.

Yeh based on the work permit rules I can’t understand how Triantis and Semedo get one. But likewise I don’t get how Bennette or Xhemajli did.

    so wtf do I know?!

the club must be confident on Triantis at least otherwise wouldn’t announce. The fact they haven’t announced Semedo and he’s allegedly in the same “subject to clearance” camp, suggests they’re not as confident (but must be at least a little confident?)

I thought that about Burnley last season, it took a new manager and a complete overhaul of they're playing style to achieve what they did, don't see the three coming down being that much of a threat unless they also make big changes, but we'll have to wait and see.
