Very challenging to replace that quality mate, I’d like to see the club make a statement and just say ‘no’.

They young lads that money still be there next year. Let’s hit the PL with them.

How would people feel about Callum Doyle coming back on loan?

he did very very well at Coventry and I think the doubts we had about whether he can cut it in championship were quashed.

Much better in a back three tho so depends what we think.

I'd rather we signed a lcb on a permanent deal, with Batth in the last year of his contract. Saying that I do like Doyle

    RCB Ballard

With Batth i would also bring in another LCB to give us 4 CBs and O9 as further cover

On the subject of money and with the club wanting to be sustainable, I wonder if that starts from this year. That would mean the money spent on the likes of Clarke, Ballard, Diallo (loan) etc came from a cash injection to get the team firing. They cost a good amount and I doubt that our turnover this season has covered them.

That would mean we don’t need to sell this summer. Money to spend on transfers wouldn’t be a lot either, unless we actually do cash in on a player.

Bellingham is rumoured to be joining for £3 million though I’m guessing it will be under a million until the add-ons are triggered. Can we expect similar deals for the other signings we are after?

Apologies for the ramble! It will be good to hear everyone’s thoughts on where they think we are financially and if much will be spent this summer.

You'd think we'd be interested in this lad on a free.

Similar to last summers investment I’d think although there’s a pressing need in 2 positions it seems.
There’ll be money when required for a player if they think they are on a big upward curve ala Ballard or Clarke, imo.

I’d like to think we have at least had a look at the data on him and Patino.

I reckon we’ve done that on literally every academy player in Cat A academies. We will know everyone who we’d like to investigate if they became available.

Patino very highly rated but not heard of other kid.

Would be very surprised if we haven’t. I’m expecting at least another couple of young PL players to join this summer.

Imagine his wage demands would be far in excess of our wage structure

Not so sure about that personally. He might well not end up here, but Man Utd might not be so against it as all that.

Clubs like Man Utd spend a lot of time thinking about where players should go on loan. Trust is the biggest factor in their decision. First and foremost they need to trust the player will be coached in a way that suits Man Utd and in an evironment that is of the highest standard. Then they need to trust thd player will get the right amount of game time, with the right level of pressure. We tick loads of boxes for Man Utd. They can easily extend his contract and send him back here expecting him to play 40 games in a side chasing promotion from a very competitive league.

I dont see sides from top european league playing european football taking him. Man Utd fit that description so they might as well keep him. Holland/Portugal possibly, but will they meet the needs of the loan other than higher level of football? Would Feyenord commit to him playing week in week out?

I think there are many more benefits of Man Utd sending him here again than people give us credit for.

Didn't Patino score against us when Arsenal beat us 5-1 in a cup match last year?

    Yep, he scored the fifth.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/59646904

Eddie Nketiah continued his prolific form in the Carabao Cup with a clinical hat-trick as Arsenal saw off League One Sunderland to book their spot in the semi-finals.

The forward turned in from close range to open the scoring after Rob Holding's header was palmed into his path and Nicolas Pepe soon doubled the hosts' lead.

That looked to have put the Gunners in control only for Sunderland to hit back when Nathan Broadhead coolly clipped over the onrushing Bernd Leno from Elliot Embleton's superbly-weighted pass.

But Nketiah cleverly turned in a low Nuno Tavares cross straight after the break to re-establish the lead. The 22-year-old saved his best until last, though, flicking Pepe's pass between his legs and beyond goalkeeper Lee Burge.

Arsenal's 18-year-old debutant Charlie Patino then capped a superb night for the Gunners with an injury-time fifth at Emirates Stadium.

All the news on Patino is that Arsenal want to sell him permanently but keep a sell on fee and buy back clause. Its like they've seen the Cirkin deal and fancied that.

If we wanted him you'd have to think we'd have a shout. Can't say I've seen much of him but he's very Michut-esque from memory.
