They've caught him out lying so they've either been through the data on his phone or requested the information from the bookies. Either way I'm stunned they've had the right do that.Reading this made me think I would never remember 232 breaches let alone 126 bets I'd placed - how do they get this level of information was it via data stored on a betting app, such as his mobile phone?
Only reason I ask I have never used a betting app, and when I was young it would have just been a case of strolling in a bookies to place a bet on a scribbled betting slip with no personal detail captured.

Surely he’s protected under the Data Protection Act with that?It will have been the bookies that have grassed him up. Those rules are to protect them (the bookies) and nobody else.

I've just been reading more and apparently they knew he was using friends accounts to place the bets. I'm even more confused now and can only assume they must have gathered all of this by the data on his phone.I'm wondering if there is any legal obligations on the part of the bookies taking the bets, to prevent insider trading. Thus if you are considered to break the rules, is the betting company legally required to report you and to whom? I don't know, just assumptions on my part.
Part the problem I have with understanding this is what are the connections if any between FA rules and UK Criminal law and what parts of it affect the betting companies.
Shut it, pigeon pumperDont think anyone will be surprised by this. Dirty, smelly bastards.
