the average squad size is over 40 but the average premier league squad names is about 23

Our prem squad was officially 23 players

we have 60 u21s and underage players.

Elliott, bajcetic, carvalho etc would fall into the 60 players along with loads who went on loan etc.

If you tried to only have 17 senior players and the rest u21 it might be very short order that you run into serious injury problems.

Not officially, but your squad will be pants if you fill it up with kids after your foreign contingent allowance is used up.

I bet all those jokes about hey jude and such were all deliberate rubbing of noses in the Internet stupidity.

I've no doubt that he and his family were, regardless of CL football, but I think FSG thought there was some clause or something and that there'd be no bidding war (and that he'd take half the wages he'd get at City of Real).

Well all that being said if you say about last summer and saw a player taking off in terms of career but said ah no let's wait till after the world cup and that then you'd be very very foolish.

his price has probably had 50mil added in 12months.

Think FSG look at situations like that and think "We could buy now for £50m and make another £50m when his value doubles in a year - or we could save £50m by waiting a year till he's too expensive for us to buy anyway". It's basically how ****ing accountants ran businesses in the recession and earned themselves bonuses.

if your club was psg and you monopolise the league then sure it makes perfect sense to keep the 50mil for yourself each year. the problem is now fsg have the oh **** moment that they've saved the 50mil and have just cost themselves at least that in revenue by not being in the cl.
