I've heard Burnsy a bit, seemed ok for local radio, but never the other lad Kofi so I don't know how good/bad he is. However there is an argument that if cuts have to be made, and incompetence isn't a factor, older staff might be released without it causing them too much financial hardship. In other words, give youth a chance.
Academia, which is probably not dissimilar to the BBC, seems to be full of old bods drawing good money, not contributing that much and enjoying a relatively easy life while young, highly qualified academics are living on short-term contracts, all over the country whilst trying to buy houses, raise families, etc.
