This time next year, Southampton FC will be...

I think we'll be in the playoffs, just because I've followed Saints for long enough to know that there's (usually) a good team in there somewhere, but our ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory is legendary.
One point, that I've also raised on the 'Selles Out' thread is that everyone assumes/expects that SR will part company with Selles, earlier rather than later. Whilst it is my fervent hope, are we sure that this is SR's intention? Could there be a scenario where SR decide that Selles has done the best job he could, and our imminent relegation is despite Selles, not because of him? In other words, could we be blessed/saddled (delete as appropriate) with Ruben Selles as manager for next season? <yikes><yikes><wah><wah>

Are you purposely trying to ruin our Friday lol

I chose mid table, but I personally think lower mid-table.

I dont see any fight in this squad, or any tactical awareness. I don’t see a good enough manager. I don’t see a board that can select the right manager or scouts that can select the right players.

I will change my vote depending on what happens with incomings/outgoings in the summer but right now we are a lower half championship club IMO.

Personally, I think this is ridiculously negative so I'm quoting it so when we're doing much better than that we can all have a good laugh. :)

Dude, if you think lower mid-table, then put that! Haha

I think there's a 14 day limit on voting, because the point of this poll was to get people's feelings before any big changes are made. I will do another poll in August before the first game.

I really hope I’m wrong. Just the loss against Grimsby this season, plus the way Coventry was so tough for us, I just don’t think we will find it easy.

The confidence of all the players is so low that if we get off to a bad start I think it might continue for a while. Caveat to this is if the new DoF comes in and we spend a load of money on new players.

Yeah I'm expecting a tough start. Maybe just a handful of wins from the first dozen. Will take a while for the new players to gel. But we will get better as the season goes on.

I voted Play offs. I think any new manager (Gawd bless him) will need time to implement his own ideas, style of play and formation. Like to see Tella and Smallbone in the team and our own academy stars Dom Ballard and Kami Doyle but we are also going to need experience which was seriously lacking this season. Most of all I just want to see a winning mentality and goal, goals, goals.

Honestly I think it is impossible to say at the moment.

We don’t know who the manager will be.

We don’t know what our squad will look like.

All we know is, we are likely to have a big budget for the league. but SR have form for spending poorly.

Beyond that we have no idea.

Well yeah, that's kind of the point. I want to know how confident (or not) people are that SR will get things right. Not interested in manager and squad; we'll do that later.

It's just for fun.

Great Idea....because you are only ever wrong about 90% of the time <laugh>

I think whoever goes down with us will be really really strong and already have much stronger squads. So optimistic play off position for me.

No. You’re not allowed another poll. The current poll is fine :emoticon-0136-giggl

I voted Midtable because I always set my self low targets, which I always fail to achieve, anything better will be a bonus.

I think we will keep a decent core of current players, we have a couple of very good youngsters knocking on the door and we will have cash to strengthen. So play offs at least.

However the managerial appointment will be key. We need and identity and need to get good players playing as a great team

The second best thing to winning the Championship trophy would be to win the play-offs at Wembley and I think that we will most likely put ourselves in a position with a chance of doing that.
