I was listening to Clarke on the unfiltered podcast yesterday and he said himself and Roberts had found somewhere they belonged a ‘forever home.’ Hope that’s more true than nixon.

They are both bloody good players, and both have had a couple of loose years before they came to us, so you can understand that remark.

But they aren't footballers for long. I don't know what these teams would pay in wages for Clarke if they are interested, or what we pay. But if it's a massive gap....

We shouldn’t be surprised teams will be wanting to bid £10m+ for Clarke.

People will argue all day long about the price, but if selling him for £15m allows us to bring in three players and tie down Stewart and a couple of others to improved longer deals, then we shouldn’t be sniffing at it even if we’d like to keep him.

Something like this will happen with at least one player. That has been as good as said.

But if we need to sell players to sign up Stewart, he's not signing, there is clearly a structure we just won't break. He would have signed by now anyway IMO.

We've invested more in Clarke than anyone else. I know the official figures aren't available but the suggestion was there was clauses that would rise to £10m (£3.5m up front) with a sell on percentage included. If that's true, then £15m plus clauses and a sell on fee is the absolute starting point of negotiations.

£10m doesn't get you Jack Clarke. Personally, I'd be looking at the Pedro deal and putting it in that bracket.

Depending on who's making the bid, I'd be looking at players too.

If it's Palace, then the deal is whatever we've agreed as a price and then throw in Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan for the season as the sweetener to sell to Palace instead of Brentford.

Jack Clarke is class imo and could easily step up to Premiership right now. Is only 22 so plenty of potential for improvement and maturing to come aswell as chance of selling on again after 2 seasons improving. He is English so nationality wise he is more expensive automatically but still think clubs will expect to buy cheap from us. We need to set our stall out this year that if you want our young talent that we have scouted and gave the opportunity to play then they cost a premium! We want to be financially stable but we don't sell cheap!

Personally I would be having a word with the lad and saying we will knock all offers back this season never mind what league he is in to give him another settled season where he is clearly enjoying his football and playing very well. We will benefit on the pitch from having him for another season and his price will go up if he does it all again next year. I think other than maybe Ross Stewart (jury still out on that one!) all the lads are quite happy just to be playing and won't be pushing for moves just yet anyway

Another way to look at it is "could we sign Amad for that price?"

There's no reason our price for Clarke should be any lower than the amount Man United would want for Amad.
But at that price I doubt the wages would fit the current structure. Amad came here to establish what he can do, no matter how much he’s enjoying himself he’ll still be set on trying to break into Man Utd first team unfortunately.

I don't think it was a sell to buy Amad suggestion but a Jack Clarke is on a similar level in what we should be asking for price wise and no way would 10 million get you Amad!

All goes back to what I suggested before, club needs to set their stall out with this. Premier league clubs will believe they can bully and rinse us financially as 10-15 million will be too good to knock back!

I need another cup of coffee I think.

i hear you, but we are only a couple of major sales away from being able to massively increase that wage structure.

Ill be surprised if clarke leaves this summer. He seems to love it here and starts every single week, 1 of the 1st names on the teamsheet. He knows the most important thing is to be playing every week, for me he stays nxt season as he doesnt start every week for those 2 teams

I think his Spurs move will have taught him a lot in terms of moving for money and a step up but not considering playing time etc...

He will not move unless he is going to be playing regularly imo, he has done that and his career stalled as a result! He won't make the same mistake again and enjoys himself here by looks of it. Still got a **** tash like <laugh>

Exactly mate, he knows the importance of playing every week and he gets that with us. Plus think the players can see where we are going and how exciting it is at the club now and they want to be a part of it - I think the only major players we will lose this summer are Stewart and/or Pritchard
