Realistically, we're not far off now. We're only 6 points off top half and 10 points off the play offs. If Liam had been here from the start of the season and we'd had a bit more luck with injuries, we'd definitely have turned a couple of the draws into wins and a couple of the losses into draws. It doesn't need a revolution in the summer to be in contention, but we do need a bit more luck.
I wondered about this. It was mentioned to me when the Juventus link up came out that Acun was looking at a lower league Spanish club, but one with a good infrastructure and the potential to become a higher division club. Obvious possibility to send players out on loan, but also useful for signing South American youngsters as they only need 3 years in Spain to get Spanish nationality. AD Ceuta I think are the club he's looking at, or at least that's the team I've heard mentioned anyway. For those that don't know, Ceuta is an autonomous city in the Spanish part of North Africa (I forget the name of the Peninsula). It is a beautiful place, I was fortunate to go as a youngster on a gap year when I went to Melilla. Very culturally distinct from the rest of Spain, but then you'd expect that given where it is!
I think just a bit more quality in the wide areas and a bit of bite in the midfield will see us finish top ten. I agree the injuries have been an arseache, because when we do have the likes of Ozan, Oscar, Traore, Darlow, Greaves, Connolly and Allahyar on the pitch, we do look very, very good.
Agreed. Full back and reliable tricky winger and strength in the spine and we'll be in or around it. Could do with upgrading some of the back up players too - but I guess that depends on who goes out.
Absolutely, but I'd hope the idea of having "back up players" is knocked on the head. If you buy players that aren't good enough to be first team players, then when you do get injuries you end up with a lack of quality to plug the gaps. A lot is made of players wanting to sign for a starting position, but most know (and usually say in their first interview) that they aren't signing knowing they'll start (unless it's a massive step up in quality like with Seri), they're signing to be part of the squad. Our starting XI, plus Simons, Macca, Oscar, Tetteh, Christie, Connolly and Longman provide good depth and the better part of a top six side. I'd expect to see Doc, Figs, Woods and Smith leave. Malcolm and Pelkas will also go back, so that'll free up some space.
yes it is, Mulat Ulker, owner of Yildiz Holdings that owns a lot of brands, worth approx $4.4bn per Forbes Rich List.

Also confirmed we bid 7m for a player and lost him to another club. Same player has reached out to him and now wants to come here. Says, if we sign him, he will give a cryptic clue regarding a meeting 12 months ago
I thought today provided additional evidence of the need for an LB upgrade. Vaughan got Elder free down the left 4 times and he cocked up the cross every time.
Not a big fan of Kappa kits tbh. Tend to be ridiculously tight. Them and Puma kits look ****. I’ll miss Umbro.
Yep, I've been vocal in my support of Elder over the last couple of years, and I do think he's normally a good crosser, but his delivery hasn't been as good these last few weeks and certainly not today.
Oh, I don’t mean the sizing’s off. The actual fit is horrendous. Puma and Kappa have this ugly skin-tight fit even on lean players. Maybe it’s changed recently but I remember Arsenal having this extremely tight Puma kit not too long ago and it looked ****. Kappa kits at the time were the same. I just feel sorry for Tufan when he has to wear one next season. He’s lost weight but he’s a stocky bloke anyway and those kits don’t flatter his physique, bless him.
Possibly Serbian striker Aleksander Pesic ? He joined Red Star Belgrade instead of us in July 2022, played a few Europa League games this season. Would make a good signing for us.
