I'd replace 'would' with 'might'. Personally he failed to get the players working for him in the middle of last season, just have a recheck on results.

I've never before in 60 years sat so emotionless for so long in my seat. After the first 15 mins with a couple of corners a sharp save from their goalie, we have given up the pitch to, frankly, a team which didn't look like PL to me but were smart enough to see we'd 'gone'. I stayed until the bitter end and started to tot up how many 'goals' have been written off by VAR as a distraction from the reality that this is the dying rites of our Club and it's been going on for years, slowly and accelerating this year. I'm an optimist by nature and really try to see the positives in things but I wish this season had ended last night.

The results are bad enough but to sit there week in, week out and listen to the baying mob of away supporters that really gets into me.

SR must demonstrate more than the gain they have already provided, ie financial security and player investment, far more than we've seen for years, remove the people who are responsible for the decisions which have helped to humiliate our Club, find a manager of a good track record along with a new leader on the pitch and ensure that next season we have a reason to turn up with our shirt and scarf on full view with pride. The grim truth is that unless they succeed in their task, SR will be in charge of a League 1 club with a half empty stadium on cut price tickets the season after next.

The ball is in their court.

Just going to throw this one out there.

I'd give the captain's armband to Bednarek next season.

Should have been Lyanco. What on earth was going on around with our goal kicks was a comedy of epic proportions.

He's a Polish international. He'll want out and I expect there'll be interest in him.

I wish I was. It took me ages to work out who was captain as I never thought of looking at him. <doh>

Found it quite amusing that the Bournemouth fans sang about Saints more than they did their own team such is their desperation to have a rivarly with us. The complete lack of comment on Bournemouth from Saints fans following the game says all you need to know. It really doesn't register as anything more than another game in this stinking ****pile of a season.

Mate go look at the Poland squad. I bet there are loads of players playing at a level lower than the Championship.

Tbh it is probably less that he deserves it and more that there is unlikely to be a more viable candidate.

    Only alternatives are probably

    Stephens
    Adams
Walcott (if he gets an additional year)
    S Armstrong

And all of those are probably going to leave in the Summer.

(Knowing Saints it’ll be captain Elyounoussi after he accepts the contract offer that’s been on the table all season…).

Looking at their recent squad, apart from Krystian Bielik who plays for Birmingham, everyone of them in their last squad are playing top-level football.

Bednarek won't be here next season. Probably for the best we have a clean sweep of players.

Yeah as above really I mean he might leave, but it gets to a point where we are all saying literally everyone is going to leave, which also isn’t going to happen.

As farcical as he has been at times he would probably be alright in the Championship.

Remember how awful Hooiveld was in the PL, but how great he was in the Championship, for example.

I know I’m clutching at straws here, but that is pretty much all we have left.

Depends on your definition of 'top-level'. I would argue that the Championship is at least equal to the Polish League, the Greek League, the Saudi League, the MLS, and probably even the Dutch League.

The Polish World Cup squad had players from all of these.

I can't see many Prem teams wanting to buy him, so maybe an offer from France or Italy might tempt him, but I imagine Saints will still be offering him better wages. And being made captain would hopefully sway him. unfortunately our petulant fan base will probably piss their pants at the thought.
