Must have been an old article I was reading. I remember someone I knew in the 1970s who went to see a relative in Norway. It was a lot higher price than we paid then plus an extra charge for the booster pylon required to get a signal where they were. It seemed a typical night's TV was the news at 7pm followed by Coronation Street, a dubbed film(he saw more than one Mark Brothers film during his fortnight there) another news bulletin at 10.30pm and then it shut down. He and his wife both said they would never moan about our TV again.

 

The only reason anyone has managed to come up with to explain why Alex Scott is not a talented pundit is because she’s a woman.

Ha, ye, it's a bit better now as filming and all the gear is relatively cheaper and there's more working in creative industries, but not that much better. It's very much local news, sheepdog trials, weather, Heartbeat, that Shetland crime series is on repeat endlessly and skiing, endless skiing.

 

So, Jim the Tiger, you say you are not paying for the licence, then admit you are breaking the law by watching the BBC 2 or 3 times a month, that makes you a hypocritical criminal and a liar, the excuses you’ve used are laughable.
All the non licence payers are the same, liars and cheats, guaranteed they watch the BBC live or on catch up, knowing the chance of being caught is slim.

Jim your opinion on the BBC is worth **** all, because as you say, you hardly watch it, any feds on here want an easy arrest?

 

I'm not sure if you're currently working in the legal profession, I'm going to guess by your posts you're not, but I would imagine that any 'feds' reading this would be a bit concerned by the lack of evidence that could be used to convict me. The total of submittal evidence at the moment is zero.
I'd also hazard a guess they stopped giving a ****e about people not paying their licence fee years ago when they became over-stretched and underfunded.

By all means though you take these posts to Priory Road and give them to the front desk. I will wait for a knock on the door.....and then ask them to leave my property just like the last time a goon turned up with no legal right to be in my garden.

 

You're really continuing with this point which is completely wrong. YouTube Premium is optional if you want to remove ads, but you can still watch YouTube without paying for it.

 

The other point is that that bandwagon was built, and is being advertised, by other sections of the media that are doing the Govt’s bidding by convincing some people that the BBC is a bad thing and we’re all struggling financially because Gary Lineker gets paid a lot, rather than due to Govt policy etc.
Some people are easily manipulated and are happy to find a thing or an organisation to blame. Better to attack the BBC than policy.
It’s the same with people (not necessarily on here) who attack the RNLI for saving peoples lives if those people are the wrong colour, because they’re also why we’re poorer, despite there being less people trying to get into this country than there was 20 years ago and the problem actually being how slow the Home Office process claims.

 

People need to enter the real world if they think 'the feds' as they call them would be remotely interested in someone not having a TV licence !

 

Same people who moan about them not 'catching proper criminals'.

How did a thread about Burnsy getting the boot end up getting hijacked by people setting out all their reasons why black people or women shouldn't appear on radio or TV? And don't get them started on black women in the media. Dave Burns is an excellent radio presenter, BBC local radio is a complete mess now, pay your TV licence because we can't afford to lose the best public broadcaster in the world. That is all.

 

The best...... Go watch the recent BBC interview with Elon musk and then try to defend them as the best. If thats the quality of journalists that our license fee goes towards then they really are in trouble.

 

Who said black people shouldn’t appear? Te only objections are to those who are appointed for that reason rather than ability. No one ever complained about McDonald or Moira Stewart for example. There are white women and men who get jobs because of box ticking as well.
Don’t rate Burnsy that highly as a sports commentator but he is very good on his morning show. He has a good radio voice, unlike Gollum whose voice would be suited to silent movies.
