What exactly is the 'Saints plus' reporter at the Daily Echo. Is that the main reporter for Saints now, or is it some kind of glorified fan post? If it is anything official then the Echo have put an article out today calling for the club to replace Selles, which seems interesting given the timing of the rumours. I say that I am going by the headline only, because like **** am I spending any money subscribing to the Echo to read the article, what kind of hilarity is that?
Saints plus is the 'pay for exclusive content and analysis' at the echo. As if anyone pays for their shoddy reporting
Not for one moment do I buy the rumour that we'll move onto a fourth manager. Not only would it entirely pointless, but it would imply to me one of two things - neither of which I could see. Either someone has become is interested in the job who wasn't previously interested back in February. Potter and Rodgers are two examples of managers who have become available in that time, but I don't see either wanting to become our manager in the coming days (or in the summer for that matter). So I'm ruling that one out. Or the board were actually stupid enough to think of Selles as someone to save us (as opposed to merely someone to keep the seat warm until the summer), but have now concluded he can't and so want someone else to try. As bad as they've been with making decisions since the takeover, I struggle to believe that even they could be that stupid. So I'm ruling that out too. (It might top the lot, if they were stupid enough to think of Selles as our saviour.) So if I'm ruling out both of those things then I'm not left with any reason as to why we would replace Selles before the end of the season.
I think we should get 2 new managers in. One now and we get new manager bounce for 3 games and one for the fourth game to get new manager bounce for the next 3. We can then afford to lose the last game of the season.
Why would you not think the board are that stupid? They’ve shown every indication that they really are very daft.
Actuallly, you and O's have been calling it out for months whilst us fickle lot (me included) thought/hoped that Selles was a good fit. In actual fact any one of us, with the reasources at disposal, couldn't have done much worse! If it wasn't so tragic it would be hilarious.
I've just received my 'Official Season Ticket Holder newsletter' from Saints. I read this: "TONSSER PARTNERSHIP ANNOUNCED" and thought that the club is one letter way from getting <Insert Name Here> This probably means that our shirts will now be emblazoned with 'TONSSER' on the front. Just imagine it - Watching 11 Tonssers on the pitch.
Personally I think the manager job at Saints is a very good-looking one, even if relegated. Someone like Potter or Rodgers - should they come here - would do so only if guaranteed a sizeable transfer budget. If you give a big transfer budget to any team in the Championship, they should finish in the top 6 comfortably. If you give it to a club who have just been relegated and thus already have a bit of quality in the team, then it should be top 3. Turning around a club that's in freefall, and getting them promoted at the first time of trying, would be a very notable feat on anyone's CV. Potter hasn't won anything in English football, so he might see it as a good chance for silverware.
I agree that it's a good looking job. I'm just not sure that there's any manager out there who would be willing to take it this week, but wasn't willing to take it back in February.
2 possible reasons: 1. Money - let's say SR offer big wages plus a huge bonus for keeping us in the PL 2. The low amount of games left means they can't take any of the blame for relegation but would get hailed as a genius for keeping us up.
