If we had him and Barry Richards opening we would walk the CC this year.

To lose only two wickets in the second innings against a very good bowling attack shows a very disciplined mindset! If this is replicated throughout the season, Hampshire will do well.

Yes, that was particularly pleasing. Sides like Surrey chase down those low totals with minimum fuss but Hampshire have tended to do it the hard way, being 20-3 or something similar to give the oppo a sniff. Let's hope the top order solidity carries on throughout the season. Holland up to open and either Donald or Prest at 7 (replacing Organ) would be the only obvious swap for the time being, but it's only 1 game and I think he got a decent ball, certainly in the 2nd innings.

Given the reduction in the number of points for a draw, it really would make it a great first round of matches for us if Lancs bat out today.

I wonder how adventurous Leics might get here. 156 runs required from 27 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Less than 6 an over.

So, we've finally won a toss at The Oval. I can only assume there is a green tinge to the pitch if we've elected to field. I do remember when Surrey prepared a green pitch, won the toss, stuck us in and skittled us for 150 or so. Then the pitch flattened out and we were screwed.

Because it's The Oval. After the first hour or two it should become easier to bat.

Middlesex's top order is a disaster again.

Just noticed Foakes is injured. That's a result for us, both for his batting and keeping - Smith's already put a sharp chance down off Fletcha. I'm fairly certain Foakes would have snaffled that.

That's shocking from Vince. No need to play at that.
