Just heard that on the radio in the car, almost had to pull over I was laughing so much! Talk about doing stupid ****.
Franks back Good luck to him likeable bloke. apparently John Terry has been instrumental in encouraging Frank to get back into management! Said he doesn’t want Frank hanging round the house all day bothering Christine… worra mate
Baffled by how he keeps getting big Premier League jobs tbh. Average at Derby, ****e at Chelsea first time around, ****e at Everton and now given rest of the season at Chelsea. It seems his reputation as a brilliant player opens doors for him that are otherwise closed for other English coaches that are better. Is he a better coach than Potter? Not a chance. As far as ex-Golden Generation England internationals who’ve become coaches, he’s probably the worst. Carrick and Gerrard are far better imo.
I think people exaggerate how badly he's done in his jobs. His Chelsea team under the circumstances weren't bad, and are obviously worse now, it's just a mental club that constantly gets bored of managers. Everton obviously was a **** show, but it's been a **** show for years under several managers. Dyche I think is sorting them out but I think that's because he's very good at sorting teams out rather than because Lampard was specifically bad. And at Derby it's always underplayed but he got them into the playoff final in his first season as a manager. I agree he's not better than Potter, and I think they might as well have stuck to their original appointment but for whatever reason clubs never do that any more so here we are.
Lampard got Chelsea 4th despite being under an embargo, he kept Everton up last season and he took Derby to the play offs. Hardly the worst manager out there.
That's one way of looking at it. Alternatively, he failed to get Derby promoted despite being backed by Mel's millions, Chelsea were in freefall when he left (transfer embargo yes, but Tuchel comes in and wins the CL with the same players - Lampard stays Chelsea don't win the CL that season IMO), and he was taking Everton down at the second attempt. As for Chelsea now - they are interviewing all of these top managers, but whoever comes in they are going to have to trim their squad and wage bill quite dramatically as it doesn't look like they will qualify for Europe this time around, and failing to do so will hardly help them attract big name players all of whom will want to play in the CL.
Ah because there's plenty of other managers who have managed to get Derby promoted or get a tune out of them? Chelsea were not in freefall when he left, he took them to the knock outs of the CL that they ended up winning. There was no embargo that season, Chelsea bought a bunch of new players and expected an immediate tune from Lampard, which he was doing slowly but surely, Tuchel came in and didn't change much to get them through in the CL. Dyche is doing so much better with Everton isn't he..
One of the main things he did was play Rudiger, who became a key player under Tuchel, but didn't get a look in under Lampard
I think Dyche will keep them up - I don't think Lampard would have done - time will tell. But I think Southampton, Bournemouth and either Forest or Leicester will go down.
Maybe freefall is the wrong word. They were certainly going backwards in the PL - I think they were 6th or 7th when he got sacked - an yes they were in the knock out stages of the CL. The fact they sacked him suggests they weren't confident of winning the CL or finishing top 4 with him in charge
