THE COMMON MARKET was the starting point, it was designed to stop a multitude of things ... basically a levelling up!The common market was also a lot diffferent to what the eu became. Again I only got to vote once in my lifetime to be in or out of the EU and I had no vote on the common market.
It evolved into the EU, and a lot of the early rules regulation and collectives became "outdated" as more members joined they were supposed to be "financially and economically sound" and have a fair open governance with people having basic rights .... it was never really "today we are the common market and tomorrow we start off as THE EU:" it evolved as such.
When what you originally signed up for becomes untenable, like being dictated to about how you make /pass/ have cast upon you rules and laws and the possibility of being taken over by an unelected federalism then time to UKIP it!
The saddest thing was Covid .. FOR THE WHOLE WORLD, and those that lost their lives and the economies it destroyed ... step back to December 2019 and press restart and simply remove COVID where and what then ... we would have more NHS workers, hospitals... more emergency services .. UK .GOV COFFERS would be in the black. Boris would be in charge [ try and remove from your minds those that cant his demeanours of covid because under the restart it is not there ]
.. yes we would likely still have Putrid to deal with .. but I reckon without Covid ... the money available for help would have been at least 25- 50% more
