You can’t force people to take an interest in politics, I understand your stance, but wonder whether having people just putting a cross in a box where they’ve no idea what their voting for is possible even more dangerous, much like the Brexit vote
They had a referendum in a generation and voted to stay in the UK,the SNP didn't like the result or the fact they lost and demanded another go, just like most remainers over Brexit.
I happen to agree with you. Although I think there should be an apparatus to allow them another one in time, and not to be at the behest of the U.K. PM. It would also do away with all this nonsense of them keeping it a permanently live issue.
You know what Wiz - I agree - it’s just like Brexit. In 1975 there was a referendum and 67% of UK voters opted to remain. Not a measley 52%. Those Brexit moaners moaned agitated and complained until the twat Cameron gave them what they wanted. Now they won by the tiniest of margins by telling people about all the countries lining up to do deals, all the money for the NHS etc etc and people bought into it. Brexiteers call us ‘undemocratic’ and ‘Remoaners’ for pointing these details out, but the fact is, far from ‘taking back’ control we have MORE immigration than ever before and the EU now controls what goes from the UK into Northern Ireland. So, Scottish Nationalists just need to keep moaning and agitating like the Brexiteers did since 1975 and another referendum just may be called.

Maybe not JGF. But the fact that Brexiteers kept asking for another referendum after the 1975 one justifies the Remainers wanting one now - and the Scottish Nationalists wanting another - and everyone wanting more referendums until they get what they want. COVID also doesn’t explain the NI protocol or the immigration fiasco.

After 40 plus years surely another referendum was well overdue, that certainly is a generation ago. A win is a win, that’s democracy for you. You moan at the Scots for wanting another one, so I assume you also believe we shouldn’t have another E.U. vote for at least another 40 years?
The SNP were clearly told this was a once in a generation referendum in 2014 or whenever it was held. Had that been 30 years ago, they'd have cause to ask for another one. But 8 years ? We certainly shouldn't have another EU vote for at least the next 20 years in my opinion, despite the people that still won't let the result go and think that Brexit is the cause of all that's wrong in this broken country. To keep chopping and changing every few years would cause even more issues for everyone concerned. Just sayin'
I was merely pointing out that the Brexiteers couldn’t accept the results of the 1975 referendum, they kept banging on about it so we had another which they won (by a tiny margin) and now because THIS one went their way they claim the decision is final. It seems strange that we should all accept the results of the 2016 referendum when THEY couldn’t accept the results of the 1975 one. Likewise, applying the same logic, it’s only a matter of time before the Scots have their Indyref2. The Brexiteers wanted another referendum until they won - now they say there should be no more referendums. Same with the Scots; the pro-independence lobby will keep demanding referendums until they win, then they won’t want any more. The real issue is that although Brexiteers won the referendum it was by a tiny margin and many young people who would have voted Remain were ineligible to vote. Many older Brexit voters have also died out. Same with the Scots; their ‘Better Together’ campaign won, but with a tiny majority. When you have a more or less 50/50 split over a HUGE topic, the campaigning and moaning and demands for another referendum will NEVER end, whichever side wins.

NO, I dont angry with people .. takes a lot lot more than some of the things written on here. As Wiz says its about opinions, everyone has them and thank god they are all different because life could be so boring. In the 80's I was subjected to number of "company training days" to help in selling things, one of the things was "3" repeat something 3 times and maybe even write it down .. will improve the memory! AND never get angry or annoyed with anothers opinion! emapathize or explain! I live by my principles, and open my arms to changes, but never let go of my values!

If an individual was born on the special day of July 30th 1966 they would be nearly fifty before they could have voted on membership of the EU.

This one went their way. Whose their we dont get to vote for the union or independance. I only got to vote once in my lifetime to be in or out of the EU. I was ineligible to vote for brext being nine do we re run it every eighteen years?? Clever way of putting it. there were not lots of common market/eu referedums, its every half century. If you spin it around its remainers wanting more referedums till they you (is it???) get their right result. The common market was also a lot diffferent to what the eu became. Again I only got to vote once in my lifetime to be in or out of the EU and I had no vote on the common market.
