fixtures up until March. Wolves and Fulham are a must win. Palace and United going to be tough. Newcastle, who knows. Not scoring much but not conceding. Been in iffy run last few results so might be bit of pressure on them to come at us and win, which may open gaps on the counter

Newcastle (a)
Madrid (h)
palace (a)
Wolves (h)
united (h)
Bournemouth (a)
Madrid (a)
fulham (h)

if we were any good (and we will have 5 forwards plus vvd at the pack to pick from) then that is a gimmie list in previous times.

newcastle are not scoring. they've drawn 5 from 6. a loss now would be par for the course of this season. its purely down to taking chances.

Palace are bang average. results are poor but they could exploit our weaknesses with pace.

wolves are due a ****ing hammering now. vengeance

utd are owed one and its at anfield. yes tough but the sheen is coming off slightly.

Bournemouth are dross. again our results so far suggest we lose but really.. we need that win.

Fulham is at least at home.

overall there's enough there to be hopeful of reaching 41 points and safety surely :)

What's the general feeling re Marsch: not good enough, not given enough time with the new signings?

Anyone you'd like to see (or wouldn't like to see...) to replace him?

Marsch never really adhered himself to the masses and as time went on more and more disliked him. Always too eager to throw a player under the bus but ultimately the football was manic, I likened it to what we called kick 'n' rush when we were kids, heads down and everyone chase the ball, a system that was never going to work in the PL. He should not have been here for the January window to get time with the new players, not all that's wrong was his fault though, lots of silly individual errors costing us goals, lots of good opportunities to score spurned haven't helped.

Who's available and who would want to come is the dilemma. Obviously we have to be realistic, I think we should have tried for Vincent Kompany, most thought Burnley would struggle but they're doing really well , playing decent football but also with a bit if bite, he knows the PL, problem being, he's almost certainly guaranteed PL football next season but he's not with us.

The sense of entitlement - one win and he already thinks we're going to be safe...

Anything less than 17pts is failure...

remember it's all about talking up things to build.momentum and get everyone on the right track forward if we can.

I doubt anyone in the camp believes that was anywhere near their level of last year.

we need the forwards to carry the threat now and we need a defender who doesn't hand the opposition a free shot in the area after 4mins.

Last night was a bit of a throwback to how we used to play - it wasn't vintage but the core aspects were there - intensity, intent, directness, hard work, snide.

It's just a shame we haven't shown this at all this season bar this game.

Let's just hope that this isn't; a one off and the penny has finally dropped. Literally a run of 3-4 wins changes the entire picture for us.

Definite sense of deja vu on that first goal.

its bizarre.

How was this kid playing CB in u18s.

250k signing to just get in before the big shut off of u18 player movements etc.

Utter utter bargain.

you can see he is picking passes before the ball arrives and is seeing things mere henderson's cannot.

6 foot 1" 18 year old, pace, tackling, passing. vision. unreal from nowhere.

If you then look at the rest of the side

two massive CBs.
a tall man to go beside this kid in fabinho (if he's not done)
2 big tall forwards in nunez and gakpo.

It'd be nice to see us really use this kid as club trained player for next 10 years. That has to be the bargain of the prem this season.

We've seen some amazing ones but this kid is every bit as good as the people being raved about when they first turned in to europe (caicedo, macallister, fernandez)
