I never said you weren't..correct me if I wrong
No, you didn't, and I never accused you of it either. But you're now arguing for the sake of it.

You expect to put a statement out but people not to respond. All I've said is I'm perfectly happy with the club as it is, no great expectations. Am I not allowed to express that?

You need to have a Snickers bar mate. You'll feel better. <cheers>

So I was right all along.

Man City bought 2008

Ffp ? 2011

What's prevented Leicester from staying up there despite a miracle?? Ffp.
You’re correct on the dates. Without checking I’d thought City had been bought just as FFP came in but on checking it was being discussed but took UEFA two to three years to implement it during which Man City took full advantage.

For Leicester it was selling their best players and failing to buy replacements of sufficient quality.

For us we have the financial clout. We also appear to have a sensible and smart management system in place to suggest we can and will succeed in reaching the top. For now I’m just going to enjoy the journey and watch a team that tries.

Anyway, you were saying about these Everton and Villa players…

Players? I'm more luke Edwards than Mark goldbridge

Meant fans. The ones you recall telling Newcastle fans this takeover wouldn’t work.

They were and are everywhere... also not working and joining the list of failed attempts are two different things .

If you look anywhere you'll see fans sighting ffp as the issue.

It's not been done yet and newcastles owners are next to try .. hopefully it works thryre not exactly the venky brothers

I don't know what on earth the last few pages were.

Every league has a set of clubs that can win things most of the time, then there's exceptions. We are on course to be in the group of teams who win things now and again. There's not really a lot more to it. Do we think we can dominate? No, the PL is making sure of that. But neither can, nor will, anyone else. And football always has peaks and troughs. Look at Man U in the 80's, Liverpool and Chelsea in the 90's, Tottenham across both those decades and into the '00's, Arsenal during the later Wenger years, Man City before 2010. And even through this less myopic than some leagues dominance, there have been examples of other clubs winning the odd trophy.

What was asked for was a club that tries. Now they've set a bar, we'd like a club that wins stuff - but look at Spurs. As I was saying to my son, the best part of football is hope, not success. Success breeds contempt, just look at City. Never sell a ground out, small crowds for 'lesser' teams, etc. I'm telling you, they will never experience excitement like the Aguero goal ever again. So all Newcastle fans should enjoy this, being competitive, and hope for as much as we can, 'cos once we've got it, it'll never be the same again!

I'll simplify it for you because you're very sensitive.

which billionaire takeover had succeeded in breaking up the top 6 since ffp came in?

That's a self fulfilling question really. There wasn't a big 6 prior to Chelsea and then Man City being bought out and if another team had done what you suggested then it wouldn't be a big 6 any more. If you just mean finishing in the top 6 then a few have.

There's a road by my house which i think is pretty dangerous, not well protected and people drive on it like idiots. There have been no accidents or children hurt in the last 10 years, but that doesn't mean it's safe. Just because it hasn't happened doesn't really count as a great indicator that it can't.

How many billionaires have actually bought clubs in the last 11 years and tried to break into the top 6?
Everton - it's widely regarded that they messed up in most ways imaginable, they still finished top 6 though just they failed to get into a position to do it regularly.
Villa (not sure if their owners are billionaires) - are a work in progress but I think they are progressing.
