Think our owners need to make a bit of a statement signing to Jeri the likes of Bruno satisfied. Heard that we are close to signing Tierney. (He’s not a statement signing though albeit a very good left back)
Heard the Tierney rumour a few times, so I assume its gathering pace. Extremely solid, goes under the radar and does a good job, which is what you need for that position really. With Tierney and an upgrade on Schar and the defence is killer.
Sounds the type nufc would like and a level up on what we have there. I'm hoping for a proper striker this summer.. the boy from Benfica..... we need a striker that could get 20 a season up there. There's no goals anywhere in the team.
As you like to screenshot me, I'm screenshotting this for a big "ner ner" the next time we score 3 or 4 goals.
It'll not be happening soon mate... they need to address that in the summer. I mean look at the numbers for these players over their careers.
Wilson, Isak, Miggy, Bruno, Joelinton, Willock and Gordon. We were scoring for fun before Xmas, and comfortably put after Leicester and Soton recently. I don't care about the last 2 games, either team has low patches, even Arsenal and City did recently, and let's not even go there with Chelsea and Liverpool, only Man U have been consistent recently.
If Real Madrid are prepared to pay over £100m for Bruno, we take it. I'm sorry, love the bloke, but in the evolution it would make sense. Why? Because that £100m, however it's paid, is recognised instantly under FFP, whereas incomings are valued via amortisation. It means we can purchase 5 PL ready players instantly without touching FFP, each of them could be worth £100m and instead of us spending £500m, under FFP we've sold for £100m and paid (assuming each player signs a five year deal) £100m, which still leaves daylight under FFP and more to spend if needs be. Of course, we won't be spending £500m on players, but it's then conceivable we could spend around £200m in the Summer across 8+ positions, significantly strengthening the squad. This is the nature of the beast for me, clubs must sell to progress and nobody is 'above' it - except for Real, Man U (replacing Barca) and Bayern. Liverpool sold Coutinho, City sold Cancelo, Chelsea will start losing players this Summer (they have to), Barca need to raise £170m. It's worth noting that under FFP we've actually spent around £70m in total since the new ownership.
I really don't think we would tbh. Firstly it's not enough - if City paid £100m for Grealish, we ain't letting Bruno go for the same amount. Secondly we have long since gone from the club that sells their best player, ie the days of the sales like Cabaye , Carroll etc.
Wilson is the only goalscorer in the entire squad and even he is 10 a season at best and he rest have as many goals in them as fabric pancrates and gouffran most seasons. Newcastle just do not score enough goals to stay up the top end or even top 6 tbh. Top 8 would be great then add a few people that score and create chances in the summer.
No we haven't! Nor has anyone except for the apex predators. But nor should we be - you MUST sell at huge prices, as I clearly explained, to be able to invest properly. We currently look like 6th is going to be a fortunate finishing position and to do that will take a huge upturn in form. Liverpool/Spurs are likely going to leave us in the dust and it's only through Chelsea's failures that we can then secure 6th - but that will be a fight with heavyweights such as Brentford, Fulham and Brighton. Why? Because we are squeaking one or two players in each window. That's enough to just about stand still in the PL - but we saw last Jan what is actually needed to progress, with 5 additions. One of those has gone, two more of those have sell by dates about to expire in Burn and Trippier. Since then, it's been 2 in Summer, 1 in Jan. Not enough. If that's a cashflow problem, we need to get some serious money in for players like Bruno. Yes, it's polar opposite to Ashley. But if the goal, as publicly stated, is to win the cups, the PL and the CL, then one Anthony Gordon every 6 months ain't going to cut it!!
Are you suggesting he might have aspirations to join real Madrid rather than lose cup finals surrounded by the likes of Murphy Almiron and St Maximin
It's horseshit Iike this that makes me facepalm, Spurs are 4 points ahead of us and we have 2 games in hand on them, Liverpool are 2 points behind us and we have a game in hand on them, but they are apparently "likely to leave us in the dust".... this apparently is based on a season where Spurs have been very erratic, losing to the likes of Villa and getting thumped by Leicester, and Liverpool have been generally dire, with huge defeats against Brentford, Brighton and Wolves and no signs that they have made a significant turn around. But no, let's all ignore the facts of the season, ie we've lost 2 games all season, and have the best defensive record in the league and a few games ago were in 3rd place, and let's just use the last couple of games as a basis to confidently say the patchy teams around us are going to leave us in the dust and everything's rubbish.
Guimareas will be sold imo... one of the big clubs wants him and financial fair play is going to slow newcastle down so if they offer a big amount it's bye bye Bruno. It's almost inevitable he'll be sold unless Newcastle become a top 4 side either this season or next. He loves it here but that will only last so long.. the weather, the getting beat and ultimately his knowledge that his career is short coupled with his hopes of winning things will see him move on.
There's always rumours and clubs fishing when players are in a hot streak - Man U were ready to pay £50m for Sean Longstaff and Chelsea saw Laecelles as the future of their defence FFS. Certainly don't see Bruno being sold in the summer even if we don't get top 4, the season after if we don't get it? Maybe, but he's one of the few players I've seen who genuinely loves it here, and his head won't be turned easily.
We've seen this fanciful thought process at every club over the years, but once a bigger club comes in offering trophies and champions league football NOW they're off. There's no loyalty in the sport mate when it comes down to the opportunity of a lifetime Let's not forget he'll have aspirations to get in the first 11 for Brasil and he'd get that too if he gets a big move. Newcastle have to get the job done fast to keep him or he has to just not play very well. Sometimes reality sounds negative so I'm sorry but it's how things are imo anyways.
I see Bruno being in their first XI very soon, he was first choice sub and Casimero doesn't have a huge amount of time left. Bruno was unlucky that Paqueta was starting rather than him in the WC, but maybe Paqueta and Casimero work better I don't know. Bruno loves the city and fans and want success with us and I love that .... Every player has their price obviously though. That's not debatable.
