I see Bruno being in their first XI very soon, he was first choice sub and Casimero doesn't have a huge amount of time left. Bruno was unlucky that Paqueta was starting rather than him in the WC, but maybe Paqueta and Casimero work better I don't know.

Bruno loves the city and fans and want success with us and I love that .... Every player has their price obviously though. That's not debatable.

I agree and I'm hoping Newcastle step things up this summer, however I think ffp is already knocking at the door.

How the **** do you work that out?! By FFP rules - as in, amortisation - we have spent no more than £70m of accountable money. Yes, we've got £200m+ of monies owed but that's not how it works for FFP.

As I said, one or two decent players each window - Botman/Pope/Isak, then Gordon - is enough to keep pace, and was enough to progress us to where we are. If we keep doing that we'll consistently be challenging......for 7th. If that's the plan, it's still miles better than Ashley's time, but that's not what we're told so do we not need to adjust expectation according to what the owner/director says we're going to do? (i.e. win everything!!)

I don't understand all the numbers etc, but It's been an issue from day one mate ..see Everton for details.

Newcastle have to be careful.... a proper striker these days would cost an incredible amount... 60 million we paid for isak and he's quite clearly not going to score 20 a season.

I'm not saying Newcastle can't buy players yet, but does it seem likely they'll be able to buy 3 or 4 top players in one window?

Selling at some point is inevitable.

Yeah, we are on the same page here - someone offers £100m+ for Bruno, we take it. FFP:

We spent £60m on Isak. Five year deal. FFP 'sees' £12m spent.
We sell Bruno for £100m. FFP 'sees' £100m income.

You can use that irresponsibly (Chelsea) and spend £500m for every £100m you make, or run more like a competent business (which we are doing). However, we still have a lot of wiggle room. End of season, a new shirt sponsor will be announced among other things. But selling big players for big bucks is part and parcel, unless you're Real Madrid, Manchester United or Bayern Munich, who enjoy a 'top of the tree' position. We will NEVER be one of these.

I can remember very soon after nufcs takeover finally went through Daniel Levy organising a meeting aimed at restricting sponsorship opportunities.

I would expect Newcastles legal team will experience huge delays when the club tries getting them over the line .

Ultimately everything will take longer than we'd like and I Bruno and botman are two players newcastle could fetch big money from and the rest literally nothing maybe max.

I'd cash in on maximum this summer id someone is stupid enough to cough up 30-50..

The ban was limited and has expired. However scrutiny will be heightened, in light of the City case.

Agree completely on ASM. Stupid team with stupid money. Anyone got Levy’s number?

If Real Madrid are prepared to pay over £100m for Bruno, we take it. I'm sorry, love the bloke, but in the evolution it would make sense. Why? Because that £100m, however it's paid, is recognised instantly under FFP, whereas incomings are valued via amortisation. It means we can purchase 5 PL ready players instantly without touching FFP, each of them could be worth £100m and instead of us spending £500m, under FFP we've sold for £100m and paid (assuming each player signs a five year deal) £100m, which still leaves daylight under FFP and more to spend if needs be.

Of course, we won't be spending £500m on players, but it's then conceivable we could spend around £200m in the Summer across 8+ positions, significantly strengthening the squad. This is the nature of the beast for me, clubs must sell to progress and nobody is 'above' it - except for Real, Man U (replacing Barca) and Bayern. Liverpool sold Coutinho, City sold Cancelo, Chelsea will start losing players this Summer (they have to), Barca need to raise £170m.

It's worth noting that under FFP we've actually spent around £70m in total since the new ownership.
Agreed and I like your mechanics.

It’s basically how Chelsea have been able to spend 500m. Over long contracts 5 plus years. Only 100m gets released for FFP.

I have no idea mate...i just don't like it and it seems newcastle will be the club that will have to be squeaky clean.

Chief executive Susan Whelan said the club will be able to invest in the squad this summer, but raising funds through player trading will "continue to feature prominently in our strategy" in order to remain compliant with financial regulations.

So, Maddison deal could still be on?

Think one of the big 6 will snap him up but he'd be a game changer for Newcastle
