We have to get used to this, especially when we are outside the PL. If we have top performing players, other clubs will come in for them.
We will do very well to keep hold of Ballard, Cirkin and Patterson this summer.
The key part is not losing too any players - the model is to source and buy young players then sell them on for a profit. They have to be strong enough to limit it to 2 per summer (for example). Bring in £25-30m in sales, reinvest and find replacements who could potentially be even better
When people question why we're doubling or trebling up on certain positions they need to think we're also planning for inevitable departures. Anderson is a typical example as we must know Ballard can't be kept here for too long. If we go out and buy a young keeper you'll know Patterson is attracting serious attention. If we have replacements in place it will mean we can start negotiations earlier and get absolutely top dollar for our players.
