That still irritates me that comment from Speakman mind, about Dajaku being a back up striker as justification for not bringing another in. I could be more effective up front than him and I'm near 50.
So according to most our whole season is over now, we should just give up then eh. Not surprised that certain people are bashing speakman at the 1st opportunity they get. Of course its really disappointing we didnt get a striker in but speakman and our recruitment team have so much credit in the bank that ill trust that there just wasnt a deal there that could improve us. Folk going on about the last time we had no strikers, but we do have a striker now and even if he did miss a game or 2 we are a different team now. TM has had time to implement his style of play, players like Amad n roberts are getting better by the week. Hume ballard n neil are all on fire n michut is starting to show what he can do Still so much to be excited about
You do know that lijadji does play up front though, i was speaking to a scout who has watched him more than i have and he says hes best through the middle
I see that hes classed as a forward but 1 career goal doesn't exactly inspire confidence does it. Hopefully its like what someone said on here yesterday and it turns out he's like a prime Henry.
Ha wasn’t expecting to wake up to this. Think I’ve made my views perfectly balanced. - the lafferty one was very tongue in cheek as loads of people at the time were saying “just sign anybody” - I think the window as a whole was a good one. I was very disappointed to end with one striker. The post you’re quoting as showing “angst” was me explaining that some people are going to be sticking to positives (like I was) despite also being disappointed by having one striker. It was in reaction to people saying our season is over. - Speakman’s statement could take days of course, I was just personally surprised it didn’t come last night. Doesn’t mean I need to chill. I mean I literally say in the post that you quote that it could take days. - if you think all the angst is coming from me you’ve not read the thread I’m not even going to try to dispute that one as it’s just absurd
I look at more than just stats though, his movement is good when playing through the middle n he has the ability to score goals. I personally prefer him as a winger but could see him playing through the middle as his runs in behind are really good
Hopefully Leeds forwards also stay fit and there’s not a recall for Geldhart. That would be really bad planning by the recruitment department.
Not being arsey here m8, but define “we’re fecked” for me pls. As far as I can see we’re not relegation material with or without him? We’re not going into administration if he gets injured? So “fecked” imho is a slight overly dramatic descriptor? I would agree that Stewart’s injury probably means a mid table finish, not bad for a team who finished 5th in the lower division last season, so that’s a bit disappointing given what might have been flirting with the play offs, but it’s still an ok season imo.
Probably, although I don’t rate him anywhere near as much as some on here do. We’ve left ourselves short. 18 league games left and still in the FA Cup… plenty of football to be played.
Good. We also have goals in us from the wide positions and from Amad. Our track record playing without a recognised 9 isn't the best....let's hope Mogga can set them up to play their football in a slightly different way.
Well, that was disappointing but we are where we are. Clearly the club/Speakmann decided that 1 striker was better than just any striker available. IN part I applaud that approach, but it's left us vulnerable Anyway, it's done now and this thread can hopefully be locked, sealed in concrete and dumped in the North Sea
I feel let down i also think the supporters and TM have been let down. Iirc this is the 3rd transfer window that we have not bought a striker. I keep getting told we have a great recruitment team and given time they will get it right.. it seems they can get the easier transfers over the line but not the tough ones Yes we have lots of wingers but few strikers.. We might think we are on the right track as a club, but there is hole in the centre of it.
Which are the easy ones ... ... half the Championship were after Joe Gelhardt. I'd have loaned Broadhead but definitely not the purchase Everton wanted. Everton wouldn't release Simms. Who else was there.
