Seems Gordon for £50m is all but done.
I still get giddy when we spend money tbh
Think Roy made a fine point that Gordon does seem to really suit some of what we do; he's rapid, loads of stamina and is very, very tenacious in terms of pressing. Having another English lad ahead of potential Europe qualification probably also in the mind somewhere. Would I rather Maddison to replace Longstaff? Yep. But would I prefer to not see Murphy coming on? Bigger yep.
I think we might get Madders and Gordon

£60m instantly buys James Maddison. Compare his stats to Gordon.
And ASM is clearly going nowhere.

I think the whole reason he didn’t work was because we didn’t actually want a target man and actually they are becoming a bit of a dinosaur anyway, unless you decide you want to play like Burnley.Key in the sense he sorted out a position that was a total mess in the team, not as in he was the complete solution to the problem.
Obviously Bruno, Burn, Joelinton etc were essential to the turnaround too, but Wood played his part. Trippier only played a handful of games before he got injured, so its easy to overestimate his part and underestimate Wood's part.
